Well, it looks like the budget went straight out the window - we bought a 40" Sony Bravia this weekend. Very happy with it so far!
Thanks everyone for your help!! Now, to get an HD Homerun and maybe an HD-DVD/Blueray drive!! Are the drives available yet?

From what I've read some of the blue ray players today can output 1080p, I have not been able to find what is going on internally though. Why would the player convert 1080p to 1080i and then back to 1080p, where did you find this?

Well, I'm too late for you. But I bought a "recertified" VIZIO 32" off newegg back in February. It looks like they still have them in stock. It was $500 AFTER shipping. They also have a 42" and 37" model. The pic quality is actually pretty good (and I have a 1920x1200 Dell 24" monitor and a 50" Sony to compare it to). I'm quite happy with it, i just wish it had a built in ATSC tuner, just in case my sage server decides to act up. Also the built in speakers suck, but I dont use them.
