Newer MB install--problems!!

Hi all, I decided to upgrade my old motherboard with a newer one. Still old but newer. Anyway, after installing windows, and my 2 tuners I am having 2 problems that may be related.

First: I have installed a Hauppauge Roslyn and a Hauppauge 150. I had both working together fine with my older motherboard. However, I am not able to use the 150's IR blaster when the Roslyn is installed. Is there some sort of conflict going on? I would think it would have presented itself in my current configuration.

Next: and much more serious issue: When in sage I am getting static on the bottom half of all my recordings (livetv). This is with both tuners. I am using S-video in from Satellite receiver so it is not a tuning issue. Any ideas what would cause this? I didn't have time to try out WinTV as it was getting late and I just swapped everything back to my older system to get things running again. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the MB: http://www.pcchips.com.tw/PCCWeb/Pro...uID=24&LanID=2

I'm just running an AthlonXP 2000 with 512 Ram with it for now.

edit: Looking into this a little more--could it be the SIS chipset? I thought Via's were the ones with problems but i've seen some posts about SIS too...

Thanks,
Juc

There is an old problem where the IR software can't tell the difference between various PCI cards & it might decide to use a card w/o the IR blaster or even one w/o an IR port at all. You can try some stuff towards the end of that thread, but I haven't heard of any definitive solutions.

Thanks--funny thing is i am currently using both the Rosyln & 150 with blaster in my setup.

My real concern is the static on the bottom half of the recordings (livetv).
Anyway to know if it is a chipset issue?

It could be the Sis Chipset, but I am using a SIS735 chipset for my motherboard (ECS K7S5A) with no problems and I have it loaded down with:

1 - Avermedia Purity 500MCE (dual tuner)
1 - Hauppauge PVR500
1 - Fusion5 Lite
1 - GB Ethernet Card
1 - PCI IDE/SATA Controller Card

Are you sure the cards are seated well on the motherboard? Could it be a bad motherboard?

Well--I fixed the video quality issue which is great. I was worried my motherboard was faulty or I just bought the wrong one. I reinstalled windows reseated everthing and all is good.

I still can't use the IR blaster with the 150 while the Roslyn is active which stinks. I don't understand why it is working in my current setup just fine and not in the new one. I will fool around some more. Otherwise i can either get a USB-UIRT.
Thanks,
Juc

I had a PCchips motherboard years ago. They were (and still are?) the lowest price board on the market. For a reason.
Over the years I have decided:
Never again SiS chipsets
Never again Via chipsets

Got it working!!! Lots of trial and error, reinstalation of drivers but i finally got the Roslyn and 150 together (one with IR port, one without) working with a blaster. Here's the detailed info of what finally worked and i'll post over in the other thread as an update too.

-Installed PVR-150 drivers. Verify blaster was working
-Installed Roslyn drivers (could be other 150/350 combo too). This automatically removed the IR blaster capabilities of the 150
-Disabled all Roslyn drivers (i think there were 4).
-This still wouldn't release the 150's blaster
-Disable the 150 drivers.
Reenable the 150 drivers. Blaster now worked!
Reenabled all Roslyn drivers...blaster still worked!

That is it. I have seen others have to do this with every reboot but it is sticking on my system.

Oh--and going from my ECS board with 2 PCI slots/via chipset the PC Chips board is better than nothing...
Thanks,
Juc
