Disable menu wrap-around - possible?

Good Morning,

Version 6.1.9 SageTV Media Center on WinXP Pro.

The UI is fairly easy to navigate, but I find I am frustrated with the menu wrap around (top-to-bottom-to-top) that occurs on most menus (example: EPG channels, Manage Favorites).

I searched this board and found posts mentioning this, but no answers. Is there a property in sage.properties that could be set to disable this feature?

Thanks and regards,

No, there is no property for that. Changing it would require modifying the Table widget's settings in Studio.

Thank you for info. I didn't know what 'Studio' was but found mention of it under SageTV product on your website. Says it was included with SageTV Media Center but I'm not sure if I have it. I bought SageTV Media Center from you as a download. Was 'Studio' installed automatically with the 6.1.9 executable?

Thanks and regards,

Studio is an integral part of SageTV and its use is automatically enabled after the SageTV license is registered, which you've already done since you said you purchased SageTV. There is a link to the Studio PDF manual in my sig lines, or see the Studio section of this forum for more information.

I have modded a Sage3.xml to be more TiVo-like - no wrapping, no line numbers, folders at the beginning of the rows, original airing dates, & episode titles.
It has many of the popular plug-ins already imported and may not work correctly without the supporting files, but you are welcome to give it a try.
If I could get my head around STVi's, I would try to put one together...

You should have a look at Gkusnick's Studio tools. They provide by far the easiest way to create imports. There is no way I could do it without them.

Aloha,
Mike

Thanks Mike. I've tried to use these before, but since I am mosly changing existing widgets, I haven't been able to figure out the process.

I finally got back to looking at this today, I have the Sage Studio panel open and I want to find all the Table Widgets so I can set the Wrapping property to "off".

However, I seem to be pretty dumb as for the life of me I cannot find a way to locate the Table Widgets. I have done find commands for "Table", "table", "Wrapping", "wrapping", no joy. Not sure what else to search for? The Studio PDF I downloaded doesn't really tell me how to locate all widgets of a particular type (that I could see -- please point me to PDF page if I missed!)

I tried expanding all tree branches with CTRL-E, thinking I could scroll through looking for the table widget icon, but gave up and killed SageTV after 30 minutes as I never got a display back. Too much to expand, I guess.

Can someone tell me how to locate Table Widgets? I just want to turn the wrapping off on the UI across the board.

Thanks and regards,

Detailed questions about how to use Studio probably belong in the Studio forum.

But briefly, there is no built-in way of searching by widget type. The built-in Find command simply searches the text of all widgets for the search string. A widget's type is not part of its text, so you can't find tables by searching for the word "table".

There is plugin available that includes an enhanced Search command that does allow searching by widget type. I'm guessing however that setting this up might be getting deeper into Studio than you want to go.

Also be aware that there are ~700 table widgets in the standard STV, so adjusting them all by hand may not be practical anyway.

It's worth remembering that an STV is just a text file in XML format, and so can be edited by any text editor. So the simplest solution to your problem might be to bring up SageTV3.xml in Notepad and do a global search-and-replace. The property lines you're looking for are like this:

Code:
<WrapHNav>true</WrapHNav>
<WrapVNav>true</WrapVNav>
Of course you should make a backup before trying this, and save the result to a different filename, just in case you don't like the outcome and want to revert. (You may find that wrapping turns out to be a good thing on some of those 700 tables.)

Hello Greg,

Thanks very much for your insightful reply. I did think about asking in a new thread over in the Studio forum, but continued my old thread instead... maybe not the best choice.

In any event, I will give the manual XML editing a try and see what happens. Of course backup backup backup!

Thanks and regards,
