error(-9)
Could someone please tell me why I am getting this error on my server?
I can understand why this is happening on the MVP, but not on the server the cable box attached directly to it. Sometimes it happens and sometimes not. Obviously it's recording something I'm watching, but I don't have anything actually recording. I have a PVR500 that has one STB and one straight coax to it. Thanks for your help, Dana

What error message goes along with "error(-9)"?

There was an error playing the blah blah show:
ERROR (-9): All encoders are in use by clients viewing "Live TV" Then there is an "OK" button I usually press ok and restart Sage at that point and then is starts working fine.

Are the clients currently watching live TV? The server also can't force a channel change if a client is watching live TV.
If live TV is not active and nothing is recording, then I would check the debug log and contact SageTV to see what they say. - Andy

Here's what I do every night since I know already I can't change channels on the MVP upstairs.
I put the server on a channel I want to watch on the MVP upstairs before I go up. I don't change a thing on the MVP. I just start watching the show. Then I come downstairs in the morning and try to change channels and the error is what I get. Without getting another cable box, I don't know what to do. Thanks Andy, Dana

What do you do with the MVP when you are done watching live TV there? Do you put it to sleep, stop playback, just go to a menu, or what? It sounds like you are leaving TV playing somewhere.
No UI can change the channel on a tuner while another UI is watching live TV on that tuner, so if you leave live TV playing on any UI, you won't be able to change the channel anywhere else unless there are other tuners that could be used. If the menus are set to play video in a window or as the background, or if you just leave playback paused when you go to a menu, you will probably have channel changing issues elsewhere. Try using video playback on a menu only if active (if you are playing video on menus at all) and use Stop when you are done watching something. Or: use the Power Off command or Standby item on the Main Menu to put the UI into sleep mode. - Andy

You know what Andy, I'm so stupid. I completely understand what's going on now. I put Sage in standby downstairs and I can change channels in the MVP just fine upstairs. Same in reverse.
I think I just sometimes over think things and someday I'll be an expert at this.....I hope :0) Thanks again!!!
