newbie needs hardware help
Hello: I just purchased a GeForce FX 5200 128 mb DDR Video Card and I was told to check out this site for hardware called a pog or pogo, I'm not quite sure. What I want to do is use my computer as a PVR and maybe burn some old vhs movies and shows I capture from TV. Originally a friend told me to get the All In Wonder 9800 Pro, another friend said to go with the FX 5200 and to get additional hardware. Any advice?

Hey Tassa,
Have you installed the FX5200 yet? Also, whats is your goal with your PVR? I tried the FX5200 a couple of months ago & didn't care for it for a couple of reasons. The image I got on my TV looked like crap & it acted as a multi-monitor video card displaying the Windows desktop on both the computer's monitor & the TV. Windows will look fuzzy & distorted on a TV due to it's low resolution so displaying the desktop was not in my list of objectives. All I wanted was the TV to show the video itself, plus the on-screen display (OSD - channel, station, etc.). I ended up taking the 5200 back & ran with a Haupaugge WinTV PVR-250 & a Sigma Designs Xcard for playback. Overall it looks great. Only other configuration I think I'd consider is a PVR-350. Good luck!
