New error w/ auto start-up

Hmm, all was going too well..... All pf a sudden, when I start up the computer with SageTV auto loading at startup and I attempt to play live TV , I get the mmessage:

sage.playbackException: Error(-4.0x80040217): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.

This did not happen before. There have been no hardware changes. I have to close SageTV, then reopen, and all works fine. I first encountered this after installing DirMon and configuring to open at startup. I have removed that program from startup, but nothing has changed.
I am using the Hauppauge 1600 tuner card, which has an onboard decoder.

Any ideas??

Does anybody have any feedback on this topic? I've seen 1 thread in Dec. '05 about this, but nothing else anywhere. Since the program works fine if I just open it manually, the issues in that thread do not apply, at least I don't think they apply.

I received a similar error when I switched from VMR9 to Overlay - all of sudden this error message came up. What I believe I did to fix it was to disable the FSE and DirectX options for the server. Playback was achieved - then turned DirectX on, test and it worked, then put back FSE.
- so try fooling around with those options and it may return. I think it may have to do with FSE and Overlay (I don't believe they should be both on at the same time) - when you're switching options on and off, Sage seems to get confused.

Thanks for the reply. I switched the FCE off and that took care of the playback problem. Now, however, I've found that the Media Extender does not respond to commands if SageTV opens automatically at startup. Close the program then reopen, and all is fine. I think I'll just have to start SageTV manually when I start the HTPC. That seems to be the answer to all problems.
