DVD with titles ?

I have several DVD's that are not encrypted and I'd like to transfer them to my HD.

The problem is that if I copy (for example) VTS 01, it's actually two 30 minute episodes instead of one. And if I use DVD Shrink, instead of it showing 6 titles it shows 18 and all are parts of an episode or multiple episodes.

So, my question is, can the entire DVD be copied to the HD and played in STV as if it's a real DVD, so that in STV I can select which show to play, just as if it were in a DVD player ?

Thanks for reading all this and any advice

If they're unencrypted then you should just be able to make a DVD folder, inside that make individual folders for each DVD, then inside those folders copy the VIDEO_TS folders from on the DVD's. Then set the overall folder as an import folder and Sage should treat them as if they're regular DVD's.

Well, I did as you said and in STV it does show up with a DVD logo and when I select it, it seems as if it's playing only I get audio but no video.

Any suggestions ?

What video decoder are you using? If its the built in Sage one I belive that it doesn't support DVD's and that you need to buy a different one (I recommend nVidia purevideo bronze edition).

I'm using the built in one. I found the nVidia decoder and am willing to buy it but once I do how do I import it into STV... In the "import sagetv application package" ?

Thanks for your help and reccomending the decoder.

You DL the decoder and run the decoder's install executable. Once done, go into Sage's Detailed Setup and go to the DVD section. THere you go to the "dvd video decoder filter" and change it to the "nVidia video decoder", thats it. You could also go to the video section and change the "mpeg2 video decoder filter" to "nvidia video decoder". Actually, if the nvidia decoder is the last decoder you install, you could leave the decoder choice as DEFAULT and it should use the nvidia decoder automatically.

Do you happen to already have any DVD player software installed on the pc? If so, you could probably use that DVD decoder in Sage. Go to the DVD or Video decoder menu and see if you have any dvd decoders listed.

Thanks for the instructions !

In DVD video decoder in STV the following are listed:

CYBERLINK VIDEO\SP DECODER
INTERVIDEO NONCSS DECODER FOR HAUPPAUGE
INTERVIDEO DECODER
SAGETV MPEG

The same are in the MPEG2 VIDEO DECODER FILTER.

I'm running STV on Media Center 2005 OS, I did have winamp and VCL media player on this PC until recently, will either of those help ?

EDIT:
HEY, I got it working ! I set the following:

DVD-ROM = NO
DVD DECODER FILTER = CYBERLINK
DXVA DVD MPEG MODE = A

And now it's working just like it's in a DVD player, with titles and I can select any show !

Thank you all for your help and STV is great, I just thought I loved my TiVos !!!

If you have DVD ROM drive then you shouldn't need to set that to NO. Just using the cyberlinnk decoders should do the trick.

OK, I'll change that back.

Now the only thing I have to do to have it working perfect for me is to get the FF and RR working like it does for all my other imported videos.

I really appreciate the advice
