Better tuner cards for me???

Currently I am using a HP-150 and a HP-500 as my two (or three if you count the two tuners on the 500) TV Tuners. I am using Firewire to change the channels of my three STBs and have a SVideo (and stereo audio cables) running from each stb to the inputs of the tuner cards.

I must say that I am fairly unimpressed with the video quality I am getting. My TV is a Samsung 720p 50inc plasma so the problem is not there. The colors are not very crisp and the video is a bit "dull".

My question is, are there other brands/models of tuner cards that will give me a better picture?

Some people report the Haup. 1600 as having better video quality than the earlier models like the 150. Video quality is hard to quantify, from what I read into their words, the improvement is visually noticeable, but not great.

It you start using the 1600 to save digital broadcasts from ATSC or QAM, then you don't need to worry about tuner quality at all as it is just saving the stream it gets.

Thanks Snipe.
I have a HD Home Run (having issues with it atm) and I get real good quality out of that. But, most of the qam is encrypted so I would not use the Haup 1600 for qam but rather svid input.

Anyone else have any ideas on this topic?

The ATI TV Wonder 650 is supposed to make excellent analog recordings.
