recorded video time count skips 3-4 seconds each second

I've got a problem with recording videos...the video is saying that it's recording for 2 hrs but it's skipping 3-5 seconds on the count for each second. That means it's recording 20 actual seconds of video for every minute of time that ticks by. As you would expect, this means I'm getting only 1/2-1/3 of my TV shows recorded. This behavior is very sporadic and has only started happening within the last week.

How do I go about troubleshooting this? Has anyone else seen this happen? I've got a PVR150 and PVR350 in an HP a1520n running Windows XP Professional.

Try the registry change mentioned here.

Unfortunately, those values are not present in my registry.

I still have this problem...I have set things to record 4 times as long now so that I'm able to get all my shoes recorded.

I could try uninstalling and reinstalling but am not aware of the 'best way' to do this.

If they're not present in the registry you have to add them. The hcwpp2 tree should be there. Just add it where it should be and reboot. The Hauppauge drivers don't put that stuff there by default.

The only cards this shouldn't work with are the PVR250/350 series cards. I haven't heard of anyone having this problem with the 350 but I had a 250 that I was having this problem with all the time. I finally ditched it for another 150 and haven't had problems since. Hauppauge seems to have ceased driver development for their old 250/350 cards so I don't ever expect there to be a fix available for this problem for those cards.
