I have a wireless G mimo working with a netgear rangemax 240 and a linksys srx400 pci card. I get about 35mbs out of this setup and the great thing about it is that it totally shuts down other networks when i watch HDTV so they don't interfere with my system. Poor neighbors. I'm sure they are far enough away and don't require much bandwidth so I don't really think about it.

When I move to the extender the PCI card will no longer work so I am working on a new solution. We should start a thread here for solutions...

Yeah. N should work without a problem. Any of the G+'s are going to be sketchy.

For those waiting for Narflex's next post or latest updates on the HD Extender, open this page with Firefox and right click on the tab and tell it to reload every xx sec/mins.

output resolutions

I've searched through this thread, but haven't actually seen an official answer. What output resolutions are supported? I realize it will support up to 1080p, and I assume it will support the standard panel resolutions:

1920x1080
1280x720
1366x768

and I suppose there are a few others. I saw the remote pictures with the Video Output button, so clearly you can toggle through these.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if I overlooked this if it's been answered.

cheers,
dave

Don't forget you need the ReloadEvery addon to do that...

I use Tab Mix Plus, it comes with the Reload feature. And Tab Mix Plus is a must for Firefox for me.

Hopefully through a web interface, which would be ideal.

HD Extender Performance

What about the performance of the HD Extender as compared to the MVP? The only thing that's reduced the WAF with SageTV is the performance of the UI from the MVP's, sometimes it just doesn't respond very quickly to keystrokes. (Usually just a second or two, but sometimes as long as 30 seconds)

I don't have any plans to upgrade my server to support recording/playing HD content, but if the UI performs closer to the PC client I'd be willing to get a new extender.

Rick...

I second that. What kind of UI performance can we expect from the HD extender versus an MVP? Button latency etc...

Rick...
I keep seeing a few people complain about UI response via the MVP but I haven't seen much delay at all. Maybe 1-2 seconds tops when the server is busy (recording up to 6 streams [4sd via 2 pvr 500's and 2hd via an HDHR] plus showanalyzer running [max 1 instance]), but otherwise quite speedy.

I'm using the stock STV on the MVP with a couple STVi's (media time jump, comskip for stock STV). Are the people experiencing lag using a fancy STV (say SageMC) which may be causing/accentuating the lag?

Also, I'm not running video on menus, nor thumbnails on the MVP, and to be honest I can't even recall offhand if that's do'able with the MVP? I do run thumbnails on the server and can see a small lag there vs. not running with thumbnails. I can imagine using either of those on the MVP, again, if possible, would cause lag due to the increased amount of data being sent to/rendered on the MVP.
I don't run video on menu's, never, ever!

I have 5 MVPs... no real lag on any of them with remotes (more responsive than my DirecTivo used to be). Running SageMC on all of them.

The first post of this thread already says it can do the animations. They work quite well.

Andy, does the HD Extender supports video orbiting?

Also, when playing SD content, how's the video quality on an HDTV? Does the HD extender deinterlaces the video properly?
