Dumb question...How do you disable the autocrop feature?

Thanks,

In the meantime, can you tell us with the new settings you added, what your now using for 'optimal' settings for encoding SD & HD, like you did in your initial post?

Also, if I might ask, what are using as a H.264 codec?

Thanks again for working on this project. I'm trying to catch up on how handbrake and mencoder work so I could help in the future (I did many a perl project in College, and will be trying to learn more about the Sage STV writing process.)
Glad you like it

My current encoding settings:

SDTV:
* Handbrake
* Deinterlace
* Denoise
* 2-Pass
* H.264 / TV Profile
* mp3 audio
* 1500 kb/s

HDTV:
* Mencoder (Remember, only mencoder works for HDTV)
* Reverse Telecine
* Vertical Scale: 640
* 2-Pass
* H.264 / TV Profile
* mp3 audio
* 1500 kb/s

I'm sorry,

How do I access the above configuration settings?

James

What? I'm not aware of this DVD "Burning" that you speak of...

Yeah, sorry, that got pushed to the fartherest back burner until I got the video compression up to par. This should be a pretty tame week for me, i'll see if I can squash those last few annoying bugs and get it working.

Hi EP,

how can I create an encoding profile that contains the above settings, instead of having to manually select those every time in the Advanced Options ? Do you have any documentation on creating custom profiles ? I remember you once published some info prior to releasing the plugin, but I can't find it any more...

Thanks,
Dirk

In the lastest version, you can go into

SageMC Options->Extras->VideoTools Options->Compress->Create Custom Profile

And it will let you create/name a custom encoding profile with whatever advanced settings you like. Then, from that point forward whenever you pull up the profile list your custom profile will show up. The only catch is that you can't edit them. If you want to change something you have to remove the custom profile, make a new one, and modify your favorites to use the new custom profile (even if it has the same name).

For the life of me, I cannot get the attached pop-up window to display. I have toggled the "Enable/Disable Advanced Options" button but all it does is toggle the phrase from "enable" to disable" I never get the custom settings window.

What am I doing wrong?

After getting it to display Enable. Select one of the compression profiles and the advanced dialog will show up.

Hmm, now two people have said that its too ambiguous. It seems pretty obvious to me... then again I did write it so maybe my perspective is a little too narrow

Any ideas for how I can change the text to make it clearer?

Oh, I also updated the usage from the first post to read...

If you just select one of the profiles you'll end up with an in-place 2-pass deinterlaced xvid/mp3 in an avi @ 1500 kb/s. However, if you toggle the "Enable/Disable Advanced Options" and then select either the Handbrake or Mencoder profiles, you'll get a popup window where you can create a much more customized encode.
Is that better?

I was the first to point this out here. That's why I knew exactly what he was having a problem with. I would change the text to say "Advanced Options Enabled"/"Advanced Options Disabled." This would show what the current state is a litle more clearly to me.

evilpenguin,

I have been trying for a while to get this working. I even did a clean install of windows and sage. I didn't want to ask for help again, since no else seems to be having a problem, but here I am help please! No matter what I do I get an error message in my status folder. I have attached for your review (when you have time).

If hadn't mentioned before I have a client machine that I am trying to use for the encoding.

Don't worry, i'll get you all set up. Compressing episodes of Good Eats is pretty much the sole reason this plug-in exists

First of all, I take it M: is a mapped network drive. If so, did you make sure to setup dirmon2 service as a user with network privileges?

It's when my Good Eats collection (AFTER I burned 6 DVDs of old episodes) hit 140 that I decided it was time to look for compression tools here.

Thanks EP! I love handbrake

yes I setup dirmon2 as you described. And yes the M drive (on the client)is mapped to my sage servers M drive. BTW your plugin is only installed on the client should it be on the server as well?
