There is no way to force Gbit. Cable is brand new.

The only thing that occurs to me then is doing the firmware in hopes that the crappy negotiation is more robust. :/

Brand new or not, have you tried swapping it out for a different cable? The only way to definitively rule out cabling issues is to repro the problem on more than one cable.

Have you tried a different port on the switch? Maybe something is wrong with that port?

Also, from doing some searching online I found some people reporting that the netgear gs605 and gs608 switches sometimes drop to 100mbit speed from gigabit.

Fixed. Just had to let everyone know that this was fixed after an update from Microsoft with a new driver. After the update, I looked at the properties and sure enough there was 1 to force the NIC at Gbit speed. Thank you to all that helped.
