Question Hardware Question

Hi folks,
I've recently loaded a gentoo-based SageTV system on two boxes (cient and server). I'm far from a Linux expert, but everything went fairly smoothly and it's working great. The forum was invaluable!

A couple of questions for you all:
1) I'm currently using the more powerful box (Athlon 3000 - 1 GB RAM) as the server and a slower box (PIII - 500 MB RAM) as the client. Should I have that reversed as it seems there is more load on the miniclient box. (Hardware is two pvr-150s and an Nvidia FX5500 Video card)

2) How do I get the remote to scroll when I hold down an arrow button when on the screen such as "SageTV Recordings"? Does it use the LIRC config settings?

3) Is there a way to make sure the server and miniclient are "aware" that they are on a LAN and not going over the Internet? Just worried there is more going on than needs to since the PCs are next to each other.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Depends on what else you are doing, with transcoding and commercial detection the server can need some processing power. You might just upgrade the client.

No help from me. I am just getting started with the Linux version.

If they are on the same subnet and using internal addresses they already are, this is why it doesn't request a password. It know they are on a LAN.
