Reliable External Drive?
I've got a western digital 'my book' 500GB...it's been 'ok' for the past 6 months, but now it's got a couple of bad blocks.
I'm looking to replace it with something more reliable--but every review on ANY external drive always has it's shares of 'I got the drive and it failed' reviews. Are there any reliable (and well performing) external drives? THanks, rwc

Every drive is going to have bad examples, and we tend to publicize bad news over good. That being said, I've had unreasonably bad luck with Western Digital over the last few years, and I now tend to lean toward Maxtor.
You may want to consider buying just the carriage for such drives, and when those drives fail, swap 'em out. You may able to do it with your current MyBook (I don't know for sure). Stu
