Problem Playing DVD's

I'm having a problem playing DVD's. I get "PlaybackException: (-1,0x0): There was a problem Using DirectX for playback." I ran dxdiag and had no errors. I reinstalled DirectX anyway, but the problem is still there. What can I try now?
Normal recording and TV watching are fine.

DirectX version 9.0c
Windows 2000 sp4
SageTV 6.2.10.152
Java Version 1.4.2_11
Hauppauge PVR-250
GigaByte M61P-S3 w/ onboard NVIDIA viideo (6100?)
Athlon 64 X2 4600+
1.0 Gig DDR2

Sage Settings:
DVD Video Renderer - default
DVD Video Decoder Filter - SageTV (also tried NVIDIA)
All other DVD settings - default
3D Accerleration - tried enabled and disabled

BTW, I have only tried DVD's made with DVDAuthor. They play fine on all three of my standalone players. The DVD is on the single IDE port on the motherboard. All three hard drives are SATA.

A lot of playback problems are actually audio related...what's the audio setup on your system? (Codec).
