Anyway to determine AiringID from previous shows?

I've been running 6.2 with no issues for awhile. However, on Thanksgiving Day Sage nearly locked while watching a show. It spiked CPU, and was showing only 1 frame every 30 seconds. So, I resetted the box and it came back up, but all of the Sage settings were lost. (When Sage started, it was at the "Configure Tuner" screen). I quickly set it back up, but in my haste didn't check the default record directories. So, instead of sending videos to my video drives, it was set to my 5GB system partition.

I found out about a week later when Sage started exhibiting all kinds of weird problems (due to low disk space, I found). The problem now is that every show that recorded during that week caused the show before it to be deleted, as there was only 3GB free. So, I lost a week's worth of airings. How do I determine the AiringID of one of these shows?

I checked through the Program Guide for one show, Reaper, from Tuesday night. The entire guide is set to "No Data" except for that show, and I can see the show ID, but that's it.

Just to be clear, AiringIDs are not the same as ShowIDs. AiringIDs are strictly internal to Wiz.bin and vary from one Sage installation to another. ShowIDs come from Zap2It and will be the same for different installations of Sage that use the same channel lineup. It's the ShowIDs you want.

That said, it sounds almost like you were running for a short time out of a separate directory with its own Wiz.bin and Sage.properties. If you're on Vista, I suppose this could happen if you logged on with a different user account after restarting. However it happened, if you can find that temporary Wiz.bin, it should contain the information you need for recordings that were made during that interval. You might be able to extract that info from the temp Wiz.bin and re-import it into your real Wiz.bin using Nielm's web server.

If you can't find that temporary Wiz.bin (or it never existed in the first place), and you're seeing No Data in the EPG for the missing shows, then those shows aren't in your (current) Wiz.bin and knowing their ShowIDs won't help you, since there's nothing in the database to hook them up to.

AiringIDs are unique to an airing & can be obtained in Studio via a call to GetAiringID(Airing). This is the number that is part of the recording's filename. This info is no longer dumped by SageTV for past airings, so it should still be available -- you can either get the info via Studio (just modify the pop-up options menu to have it show that info) or see if you can search for the airings in nielm's web server, which lists the AiringID on its Detailed Information page.

It seems to have been using the same Wiz.bin for all of it, I don't think a new one was created.

I installed Nielm's web server (awesome!), and was able to come up with the AiringIDs. But, didn't have much luck bringing the videos back in. I stopped Sage and the Sage service, renamed a video to Reaper-AshesToAshes-1151539-0.mpg, and copied it into one of my HTPC video directories. Upon restarting the service, the file was just deleted. Oh well, thought it could be done easily

that should be all that you need to do...

Guessing... you may (still) be short of disk space (according to the disk space rules), so when it saw that old recording, it deleted it to make space.

I dont think that it would delete for any other reason...

I've tried a few times now, and each time it gets deleted. Along with other shows from that same time period. And there's plenty of disk space:

Video Disk Space
* Available: 94.88 GB
* Used: 279.80 GB
o [Auto-Delete Recordings]: 187 recordings using 227.32 GB
* Next 48hrs has 24 upcoming requested recordings requiring: 42.80 GB
* Total Video Content: 178.96hrs

You may have plenty of space in aggregate, but remember that each recording directory has its own individual free space threshold. If you're dropping those recordings into a directory that's already at its threshold, then they're going to be subject to auto-deletion, regardless of how much free space you have in other directories.

I just checked the rules, and they're set to "Use all" for both of my drives. One has 33Gb free, the other 55Gb. <shrug>

There may not be that much space free if you have an undelete utility like Norton Protected Recycle Bin, or whatever it is called now. I'm not sure if different time stamps could make a recording look corrupt to SageTV. You could check the debug log to see what it says about the file when it is found during a scan while SageTV is starting.

Good points, but there's no recycle bin protection. I ran the debug log, and it did hit on the file in there.

It thinks it is a partial -- the file might have been edited to remove commercials, and thus be much shorter than originally.

Disable the detailed setup/customise option: 'delete LiveTV files when not using Intelligent Recording';

It will still not appear in recordings unless you search and make it a manual recording (removing partial status).

Thanks! That did it. Disabling "delete LiveTV files when not using Intelligent Recording" made it keep the file. I keep forgetting that all of my settings were restored to default when the system crashed, so I never even thought to check them (I assumed they were still correct )

I do have to search for them now, as you mentioned, but at least they're in the system now.

There is a link on the webserver home page to list partials -- you can make all of them man-recs at once.

I also think (but am not sure) that making a partial an archived recording permenantly removes the partial status

Excellent! You're right, I found it there, and it's been fixed. This weekend I'm going to have to sit down with your webserver and learn it. Great job!
