Extender Hardware reliance

Aside from actually needing a PC to run the HD media extender, on the server side is the hardware that important from the extenders point of view? My graphics card is dying and I'm wondering if I can drop a low power GeForce (like the 7200GS) in without affecting the extender.

Thanks,
Ben

That shouldn't affect the extender at all. When I bought my MVP and set my server up as dedicated headless it went from a 7600GS to a 6200TC. Never skipped a beat.

Unless you're trying to play a format that is NOT natively supported by the HD Extender the server-side hardware doesn't matter. The HD Extender handles its decoding in hardware.

Does the server side video card get used at all for transcoding? I didn't think so, I thought it was all done by the processors.
