Here's my first attempt. Need to see if I can change the opacity of the weather bar part alone, if I put it at the bottom, it is almost impossible to see.. It's also very difficult to read the My TV menus as well (see ial2.jpg for an example (is there a way to change the background per menu, or is it global?))

I've been following this thread and I'm liking what I see. Damn, I want to try to make one myself of NO TIME. Instead of going through the thread, is there a central location to find all these work-in-progress and finished themes?

I haven't looked to hard, but where did you get the squared off buttons for the main menu? Is it from a theme, or did you edit one of the images in the theme directory?

I made it myself, the image is located in SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageMCE\Themes\Default and is called menu_list_focus. Or you can just download mine if you dont want to make it yourself.

I've been playing around with Studio and somehow managed to come up with a diffrent layout for movies/videos which sort of works quite well. It still needs loads of work and will proberly never get finished due to my non-existant skills with Studio. Anyway I'm pleased with it so far, so I thought I'd share a few screen shots and hopefully get some comments or ideas on how to make it look/work better.

That's very neat. Do you have to manually load the background image, or is it grabbing it from somewhere?

Currently I have to manually load the background image but I'm trying to get it to load dynamically.

While not using some of the new features in 6.3.8, here is my variation on Center Stage...

TimzTV 2 - Main Menu
TimzTV 2 - Main Menu w/ Video Preview
TimzTV 2 - Guide
TimzTV 2 - Options Menu

It's a starting point. I like clean layouts, but I may dress up the sub menus and backgrounds a bit. I'm also thinking about adding the RSS ticker somewhere on the main screen in the "preview" area between the rotating menu and horizontal divider.

This is really nice. I would love to get my hands on it if you would be willing to share. I'm just not very creative when it comes to customizing anything visual

Since nobody has answered.... Is there any way to change the fonts used by SageTV (and SageMC)? I'd like to be able to adjust the font itself as well as the font color. Ideally through the theme settings instead of messing with the STV itself.

Anyone know the answer to this?

I can share this no problem - once I get some kinks worked out.

1. A couple of built in menus, including the online video menu, wants to start a bit above the horizontal line on my header, looking very sloppy. It looks like it's hard-coded that way, so I may have to shrink the header section to avoid this. Unfortunately that may make things too tiny.

2. Some custom sub menus broke with SageMC 6.3.8 and I haven't found a fix yet (see this thread).

I'll post this when I get these things hashed out a bit.

Still working on my "practice theme" just to learn my way around creating a full-fledged theme(I still have a few questions out there for the experts). So today I tinkered with a theme I'm calling "BeyondSage".

It's not my favorite or anything, but it might be a little familiar (background and icons to some extent as well as the layout) to some around these HTPC parts. I'll upload the theme when it's finished - the goal was to make it familiar for those just switching to SageTV from another program - I know it's difficult to leave the familiar so this is a stab at making the transition a little easier. The preview window fills the blank space on the main menu when media is playing.

Someone feeling a bit nostalgic?

You know, I think with the Icon menu style, you could set up a vertical list and position the icons next to the text. Add a focused main menu selection graphic and no unfocused graphic and you should be getting pretty close to.... well, you know.

Aloha,
Mike

Yeah I guess so. Its more of a "I wonder if I could make a theme that would have similar look and feel to it" then it was me missing anything though

Hmm, good idea - I'll have to try that and see how it looks. If I figure this one out and it looks okay I might try a SageVo theme next.

I have, very loosely, tried to recreate the look of the Original STV, but with the SageMC flair. I am still working on it so it's nowhere near done. I wonder if some Myth inspired themes could be done. I need to look more into this stuff.
