Slow Playback via non-SageTV software
I have a PC with 2 250s and SageTV installed. Everything records fine. However, when I try to playback from other machines on the network, it seems like it's playing in slow motion.
It is not choppy or dropping frames - it looks like a 45 record played at 33 speed. It plays fine through the SageTV software and through SageTV Client. It also plays fine on the MediaMVP. Any thoughts? Thanks! Last edited by onlydarksets; 07-30-2008 at 07:00 PM. |

How is your network setup? Wireless 802.11b?
What OS's are you using? What software are are using on the client side? I had a similar problem with PowerDVD 4.0 on my HTPC. There was an update on their website which solved my problem. |

I have PowerDVD Pro EX and the MPEG-2 codec on both machines. The recording machine is XP Pro, and the networked machine is XP Home. I have the same problem on my XP Pro laptop. It's not a speed issue, because other video clips (and DVDs) play fine.
Everything is on a 100Mb network. Thanks! Last edited by onlydarksets; 07-30-2008 at 07:00 PM. |

How is the CPU load on the machine playing the video when the performance is poor?

Odd - I posted a reply last week but it didn't show up. Anyhow, the CPU load is nominal, b/c the playback isn't "poor" per se. It is simply at the wrong speed. There are zero dropped frames (that I can tell) and no stuttering. I will try the PowerDVD updates and report back.

Nope, no dice. It is still playing too slow. I am going to try the Elecard decoder next and see if that does it.

Well, the Elecard decoder fixes the sound problem, but doesn't do as good of a job with the video. On to the next problem!
