IR Blaster sending "OK/Select" To Cable Box

I have searched through the forums for a while and haven't found an answer to this question.... How do I get SageTv to send enter/select/okay to the cable box via the IR Blaster. Everything else with the remote setup works perfectly, however when I get to the On Demand menu (the STB is a Motorola DCT700) I cannot send a menu confirmation command. If I use the Hauppauge remote it only brings up sage's information screen, and a second push brings up the sage internal menu. Does anyone have an idea to send along the Ok/select button from Sage?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

You cannot do this (with the Hauppauge Remote / Blaster). The blaster within SageTV is dedicated to channel change, it cannot be used to operate the set top box outside of this context.

For other usage, you need to use a third party software (my software doesn't work with Hauppauge remote / blaster; maybe EventGhost or Girder can do this, but I'm not sure it will work the Hauppauge blaster).

Stéphane.

Yup you'll need something like the USBUIRT and to limit those PPV channels to specific boxes.

Stéphane,

You mention that this could not be done with the Hauppauge Remote / Blaster, however could it be done with the Hauppauge Remote controlling the Hauppauge MediaMVP and then using USB-UIRT to blast the proper menu command using your LM Remote KeyMap? How about the Sage STX-HD100 and remote with USB-UIRT and LM Remote KeyMap?

Also, CollinR brings up a good point. If the above would work and you were controlling 2 STBs, how would you ensure the commands are sent to only one box, say for the purchase of a PPV movie, or does SageTV handle that?

Thanks so much.

In theory yes, though as you want to make it work on extenders, you have to have an menu of some sort in SageTV that would display an on screen remote and forward the blast request to the LM RKM COM objects.

Well in LM RKM you have to select a device for blasting anything, so if LM RKM is setup correctly for handling two devices all is fine.

So this would be a lot simpler if you wanted to do this on a client PC (LM RKM can be a client of istelf), but on extender / placeshifter there is a missing part: a LM RKM client inside SageTV (if Nielm or anyone here does know how to call COM object from Java then it is very easy to do...)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Here is a prelease of the On Screen Remote plugin that will be available at some point in the future.

http://www.collinrector.com/SageTV/O...ote/remote.zip

Install as normal although this is an STV rather then importable stvi right now.

Install EventGhost

Edit the commands.txt as follows:

Commands for the remote control menu
Remote 1 Name=Cable Box 1
1="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num1
2="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num2
3="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num3
4="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num4
5="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe' -e STB1-Num5
6="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num6
7="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num7
8="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num8
9="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num9
B="Not Supported"
0="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Num0

Up="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Up
Purple="Not Supported"

FF="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-FF
Record="Not Supported"
Stop="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Stop"
Pause="C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -e STB1-Pause"
=======================
Remote 2 Name=Cable Box 2 or ???

2=Button2
3=Button3
4=Button4
5=Button5
6=Button6
7=Button7

Left=Left
OK=OK
Right=Right

Next=Next
RWD=RWD

Pause=Pause

You will need to have the SageTV service login as the same user EventGhost will run as.

You will need to setup a lineup where only 1 tuner has access to the PPV channels.

You may wish to use Evenghost's network interface.

You will need to teach EventGhost an IR code per STB code.

Further development will be found here:
