DVD menus, what am I doing wrong?

I recently bought a new hard drive so I decided to take my home movies I created on DVDs with menus and copy them all on that drive. Everything is fine but the menu stutters and lags or shows no cursor when played in SageTV.

I have tried using different decoders and here are the results:
Nvidia - video and sound stutters and menu selections lag
powerdvd - video stutters and menu selections lag
SageTV built in decoder - no lag or stutters but no cursor
ffdshow - same as SageTV decoder


When played in PowerDVD it plays perfectly. So what gives? How can I get the menus to act like they do in powerdvd?

You're not using sage 5 like me are you?

I have the same issue on some DVDs but some other users have said that they fixed the problem by updating to sage 6.

I have the same issue. The cursor is missing on DVD's saved to the hard drive with menus. I know the functionality of the cursor works because I can get it to play if I hit the enter key, but it is always a guess at where the actually is. I have version 6.3.6b

If you know what you are doing, you can try changing this registry setting:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirectX9\YUVMixing=0

Narflex posted it a while back. Otherwise, you can try changing your renderer to Overlay for DVD's. HTH
