Well, if they are a businessmen, they have to be aware that window of opportunity won't stay open forever. The longer they have the supply problems, the less chance they have to increase their market reach. Every time we have guests over, they really like Sage but I cannot really recommend it to them, because if I tell them they have to wait 3 months and then they will have just few days to get it before it sells out for next 3 months, they would think about me as a fool.

Seems like it doesn't have the one thing that makes the HD Extender really stand-out:

No mess, no fiddling, plug-and-play operation.

Looks like a hassle to get it going, and seems to have a lot of limitations still. Good to see competition, but I'm not interested...

Slipshod - you might be right however I cannot get an HD extender to know that!

Still not in stock?

I need to order 3 or 4 of these pretty soon. Cheaper than upgrading the PC's the TV's use.

That was me. The statement above is correct. If you plan to order several boxes then you should send sales an e-mail and get their form filled out ahead of time.

I ordered a total of 11 boxes. 5 for a buddy and 5 for around the house. I have 1 spare just in case. I thought I was going to deploy it in the game room but it still remains in the box.

Wow... have you actually stress tested your network (and drives) with all 5 streaming HD content at the same time? Any issues?

I guess "live TV" with HD on all 5 would be a pretty good test.

I have run 5 streams at once - 4 HD (2 being transcoded simulataneously for MVPs, and 2 unchanged for HD Extender), and 1 DVD. No issues at all - ran flawlessly

Depends on your network, RAM, harddrives, CPUs, etc. But it works

Any News

Has anyone heard when the extenders will be in? The last response I got back from them was "The beginning of May" which I am not sure what date that could mean . I guess it would be between the 1st and 15th?

Just thought I would ask to see if anyone else has heard anything.

I heard yesterday that they were getting stock in the next week or two. Shame we can't pre-order them so they know how much to order.

Well let's hope so. I was ready to get one but with the new AMD/ATI and nVidia motherboards with integrated graphics and H.264 decode I'm seriously considering just building a mATX client. It would be more expensive than the extender over all, but I could toss a BD drive in for a lot less than a stand-alone player, which would help offset some of that cost.

Well, I'm of the opinion that its actually been too long to not make some sort of statement about when they are expected to be in, instead of adhering to the company line about not discussing it.

Minor out of stock issues don't warrant an explanation... this sort of prolonged out of stock should be accompanied with an explanation if they aren't in in the next few days, in my opinion. I mean, we're working on months now, not weeks. I'm trying to be unemotional about this, since I'm not even sure if I'm going to get one yet, but this is bordering on being a harmful out-of-stock for Sage, as a company.

Again, just my opinion.

My wife asked me today what I wanted for my Birthday (today May 13th)...told her all I wanted was the HD100's to be available so we can finally build our home theater.

Guess I didn't get my b-day wish

Mine's in September. Let's just hope it doesn't get to that point...

It's been a long time since I've been this anxious to buy something. Oh wait, I've been just as anxious for the HD-PVR! I got all worked up seeing an email from Hauppauge a few days back but of course it was the "sorry we're delayed" email that everyone got.

If I had at least one HD100 and I could kick back and watch a movie....sure. But I'm a new customer waiting to get something setup. So you can see how anxious I would be.

Plus I'm tired of the wife complaining about changing DVD's...and never knowing what we have without flipping through 4+ cases of DVD's.
