Keys are only sent to the window with focus, so they don't get sent to the tray icon when SageTV is sleeping there. Hmm... I just remembered that actually it does retain focus when it is first put to sleep (try Alt+space for interesting results), but it does not seem to process any keyboard command inputs.

If you sleep it full screen in screen saver mode, the keyboard should be able to wake it, but of course, then it isn't out of the way.

Unless someone else has a better idea, I'm aware of at least 3 ways to wake it while sleeping in the tray: double click the icon (or right click-> restore), run the exe again, or send a Power On message to it. If you have a utility to bind a keystroke to run a bat file, you could use SendMessage.exe (in your SageTV dir) to send a wake-up comamnd.
