MVP suddenly turns off
Dear experts,
I am totally new to sagetv, so this might be a dumb question: My MVP frequently (very often) turns off. Is there a way to enable some kind of logging to find the reason for it? The effect happens while watching a video, or browsing through the menus. Anytime, anywhere ... The screen goes black and the MVP led turns off. Any help would be appreciated. Eyk |

Is it a wireless or wired MVP? Does it go off every 10 minutes? If so, it is probably because you are using a dynamic IP number instead of a static one. I don't recall exactly what the problem was but I know changing to a static IP number corrected it.
See the SageTV FAQ for instructions about how to tun on debug logging.

Hi,
hmm the problem was gone after I had the "chance" of a totally new installation... For several weeks everything was fine and the MVP worked like a charme. But now I have these chrashes again! The MVP ends up in a state where the power led is off and it can't be turned on with the remote! I need to power cycle it. This happened several times in the middle of watching a recorded show. I've tried this with different shows. Attached is a log. Any ideas? Eyk

My MVP does the same thing, it happens about once a week.
While navigating the Sage menus for no reason it suddenly powers-off. Typically the MVP light is off and it will not respond to a power-on signal. NOTE, it has never powered-off while a video is playing and no remote buttons are being pressed. If it is ready to crash simply pushing a button will crash the MVP. Sometimes, when it does powers-off, it will respond to a power-on signal but about 10 remote signals later it locks up and the menus will not respond. Occasionally I notice that the red light is off, yet Sage and the MVP are still working. If that happens about 10 remote signals later the menus will not respond and the MVP locks up. The fix is to manually unplug the power cord and plug it back in. The MVP is a little computer running the Linux "BusyBox" Operating System, once it crashes it needs a reboot just like a Desktop computer.
