Does anyone know if Silverlight via IE will offer 1080p movies now? I definitely have the bandwidth for it. I mean this sincerely, but I could just use it until Morgan either supports silverlight in sageTV or drops Netflix future support. I'm not sure if anyone has tried hooking up Girder remote control to the Silverlight player... but going to go upgrade as soon as I know there's 1080p support aviailable now.

Hi Dreameriz,

How is your system configured to send video out? Are you using a standard video card? Or are you using the TV-out function on your tuner card?

I had a similar issue and it turned out that my Hauppauge PVR-350 wouldn't work with other video formats (flash, WMV, etc)... switching my TV Output to use a standard video card resolved the issue.

HTH,

Are you running on a client PC? If so, does it work correctly when you select the IE Player instead of the custom player?

If that works, I assume you can select a Watch Now video for download. Download any video and try to open the downloaded file from WMP and see if that has any problems.

I had this issue a while back check to make sure the netflix player application is actually installed to the right location and make sure the dll file is too what is happening is that the netflix player application isn't actually being started but the screen that lets you know it is trying to load it is and the bug comes into play that that window waits for the player to open then close so if it doesn't open it can't close so it just hangs there until you end the process manually. but I say to make sure everything is installed properly

"NetFlix Player Open" is only displayed when the loopback channel is set to 0, otherwise, on the extender, a video screen is displayed over the whole page regardless of the the correct loopback connection or the player opening on the server. Check and see if your loopback channel has gone back to 0.

vexhold, is this on a client or an extender?
Is this on Vista? If so, search for multiple copies of netflix.jar
You have verified your username (e-mail) and password at least 10 times?
Check the genre filter to make sure it doesn't just happen to have everything filtered out..

So, it looks like the Silverlight player went live for all users this morning. Since I accidentally opted into it a couple of weeks ago, I don't know what new user experience is like. Is it still an opt-in? Is it our only choice now?

No problem. That at least gives an idea for someone else who may run into the exact same issue.

Morgan,

I've got a possible bug or perhaps feature request: With my MVP client plus Sage in service mode, the only way to update the queue information (Instant or normal) is by restarting the service.
  1. Start SageMC on the MVP, navigate to the Netflix screen and view the Instant Queue. See that Movie A is listed in the queue.
  2. Turn off the MVP.
  3. Log into Netflix from a browser and delete Movie A from the Instant queue.
  4. Start SageMC on the MVP, navigate to the Netflix screen and select the Instant queue.
Result #1: Movie A is still listed.
  5. Turn off the MVP.
  6. Restart the Sage service.
  7. Start SageMC on the MVP, go to Netflix, and select the Instant Queue.
Result #2: Movie A is no longer listed (Instant queue is now updated).
So, I guess my request would be for a function to update the queue data from the MVP without having to restart the service.

Thanks,

--Steve

P.S. This plug-in is a huge hit with my family.

Instructions are on the first post of this thread... Are you having a specific problem?

Unrelated question to more experienced users of this: I just installed this on my MVP. Works great, but 2 questions: First, when I launch watch-now I have to exit out to the main menu then tune channel 1 to view the video. Is there any way to get the plugin to do this automatically? Second, whenever I use watch it now, I have to log on to the server with VNC and manually hit the "Full Screen" button; is there a way to have the plugin do this automatically?

Thanks!

-Justin

Well when I try to install it, and I do what the instructions tell me to I restart sage mc and all I get is a black screen. To get sage working properly I have to delete the files. So is there an automatic way to install the plug in if not then How do I install it?

Make sure you're using the Import STVI button and not the Load STV button. Netflix is a plugin and is considered an STVI.

Will Netflix watch now ever work on HD200? I have HD200 with sage on windows home server and would love to stream netflix. I installed it but when I start up netflix, it just freezes. have to hit options and back button to get back to main menu. I'm running sagetv 6.5.3 beta, sageMC 6.3.8a and latest download of netflix for sagemc. I'm a new user to sage and like it so far. Netflix streaming would make it perfect.I really don't want to do pc client but might not have much of a choice if HD200 can't do netflix.

Thanks.

You can stream Netflix WatchNow with the HD200 and PlayOn (30 bucks, but there's a two week trial). See this thread for details. I tried it on my WHS server, and it worked fine.
