Digital Changeover, HDHR, and Qam

I am considering picking up a 2nd HDHR for those times when I need 3 or more HD tuners. I'm using QAM over my cable tv connection. When the digital changeover hits early next year, are the cable co.'s still going to be be required to broadcast your locals (i.e. CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, etc) in the clear or are all of us using HDHR's over cable going to have new doorstops once the changeover hits?

I haven't seen this anywhere and didn't find anything over on the Silicondust forum/site. So does anyone know what the scoop is?

thankx

I have not heard any thing about the cable cos no longer carrying the local broadcasts once the switchover occurs.
Also, the HDHR supports OTA as well. So, it won't be a doorstop.

From what I understand. (95% sure) They will be required to provide "local" TV and in the clear.

Of course companies that don't use QAM (AT&T, fiber and dishes) don't have to follow this.

For folks such as myself who can't even get FM radio they will. OTA just isn't an option living in a "hole" in the ground with hills all around.

Heck, even the satellite radio that came with my new truck has severe dead spots here.

So the only option with my HDHR is QAM over cable.

OK. But, you'll at least be able to sell it on ebay to someone like me who lives in the flat lands. (Although I think I would gladly give up good OTA reception for a a bumpy horizon.)

Sorry, but my house is already overflowing with "things I need to sell on Ebay". Old printers (even an old 24 pin dot matrix), many "universal" (universally crap) remotes, tape drives, a whole slew of SCSI drives/cards, AV receivers, etc, etc!!

I've never gotten around to selling any of it on Ebay, so I don't hold out much hope of getting around to selling my HDHR(s) if/when they become boat anchors for my circumstance.
