6.3.9 RC + TSSplitter.ax = Application Error

Before I post a support incident I just wanted to see if others still have the same problem with 6.3.9 RC.

After upgrading from 6.3.5, through 6.3.8 RC, then trying the TSSplitter.ax fix for 6.3.8 RC, and now on 6.3.9 RC. I'm still getting, too frequent crash of my SageTV Service (TSSplitter.ax) on server. Usually looks like this in the Event Log:
Quote:
Application Error
Faulting application SageTVService.exe, version 6.0.13.1, faulting module TSSplitter.ax, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x000124ec.
Problem is I never got this, anytime, with 6.3.5. This does not look good for next official release. Do not know what they have done, but if it keeps up like this I will have to go back to 6.3.5

Anybody else got this pattern ? Any ways to reduce problem ?

You should definitely file a support ticket. I do not think there are many people using FloppyDTV, so they need all feedback they can get to get things corrected.

(I use a FireDTV myself, and will probably upgrade today or tomorrow.)

If you are using the separate TSSplitter.ax from Qian, you need to redownload it if you didn't download it in the last day or so. A new one was posted for a bug I had submitted, and I am also using a FireDTV. I don't know if my problem was related to yours though. If you have downloaded and used the newest TSSplitter.ax with 6.3.9, and still have problems, then definitely put a bug report in.

@Madcoder

Thanks for the tip. Just to make sure I got this right. You are talking about this download link for TSSplitter.ax:
http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/TSSplitter.ax
And not the incident about some problems with the release of 6.3.9 RC the first hour or so it was available ?

Problem is, as long as it's a direct download link and no version info in .ax file it's not easy to be sure what version is newest But if I understand correctly, this download link now contains a TSSplitter.ax that is preferable to the one contained in the 6.3.9 RC release ?

Hi,
Yes, it is now a slightly newer one. However, be warned that it still might not fix everything for you. I still have problems, and have already sent Qian additional feedback and logs. I would suggest you give bug feedback to Sage if you have problems with it, because your bug findings could be completely different than mine!

Thanks. Will download and start to use it. If I still get problems I'll report all the details I can in a bug report. The biggest problem is that I can't reproduce the crash on command. It just happens, sometimes, but once every 2nd day or so is too much. Especially since it crashes the SageTV service. Hope you get your problem solved.

You can save time with swapping emails with them if you already put this in your sage.properties file:
debug_logging=TRUE
The word TRUE must be capitalized.
Then, when you get a crash, send them your "sagetv_0.txt" file (or all of the logs 0,1,2,3) zipped, along with the Dr. Watson log, which is usually here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\drwtsn32.log
If it is not there after a crash, you probably need to activate Dr. Watson, so activate it with this at a command prompt:
Drwtsn32.exe -I
If you have Vista, then you need to bring back Dr. Watson using these directions:
http://www.dumpanalysis.org/blog/ind...tson-on-vista/

You might already know all of this, but if not, it certainly will save a few days diagnosing.

Debug I knew. Hadn't though about bringing back Dr.Watson. Will do that too. As you say, better to have it on, saves time.

I am still getting this problem with 6.3.10 release. Is there a newer TSSplitter.ax I can download? The URL link above is no longer valid anymore.

I'm sorry to say I do not have any more good feedback as of now. I guess .10 contains the newest TSSplitter.ax, if the link is down now.

For some reason I'm not able to force crash. And also problems have been far apart lately. I'm waiting for my HD Extender. When I get that I'm going to clean out my SageTV Server installation, and do it from scratch with 6.3.10. Then I'll monitor the stability and turn on all logs, and check behaviour. Hope to have more info then.

You both should open a ticket with support and be prepared to supply debugging logs. The majority of users aren't experiencing this issue with the latest version. (6.3.10)

I'm up and running with .10 release now. Been so for a few days. Didn't seem to get the problem. But just today I got 3 crashes. I had debug/dumps and so on. So created a ticket with info. See if they can find anything.

To me it seems like a problem that comes over time. Little strange. Can't get any consistent pattern on it.

I just received support email (Qian) from Sage and offers me a new file to try.
It is available at the same location from the previous post.

I am testing it at the moment and maybe you guys can try it as well.

I have been mostly trouble free since my last post. But in the last two weeks, I have been having a lot of crash. Sometimes it even causes a BSOD. SageTV support has been sending me new file to try, and it is NOT making things better. Then support asks me to help capture the raw stream data when it crashes. I did that and send support the captured dump file. But still support team cannot re-produce the problem. Does not look like it is getting resolved any time soon!

Are you guys still having this problem?

I believe this problem is DVB-T specific (judging from the location of posters in this thread). For US users, this is probably a non-issue.

You're probably right. Have you also moved on the the latest beta 6.4.3?

I am trying the new .ax file directly from Qian which looks like (both 228 KB) the same as the 6.3.4 beta release.

That's what I was going to mention. The latest beta should already have the latest tssplitter.

Still there in 6.4.5

The latest beta (6.4.5) still gives me the TSSplitter.ax error. I just had one this morning. Anybody still have this problem!
