Vista x64 HP w/3rd Party DHCP server App.

http://ruttkamp.gmxhome.de/dhcpsrv/dhcpsrv.htm

I found this DHCP server Application and installed it on my Machine to try to get my MVP to work with my setup. Previously I had XP home setup in such a way that the PC connects to the internet via a wireless connection and the MVP plugs directly into the LAN connection on the PC and is given a IP address by XP and not the wireless router. Vista HP doesn't have this HDCP capability so I tried using Application above. It was easy to set up a static IP for the MVP and the MVP recognizes and stores the IP, but when it goes to load the GUI. Its says "Failed to Locate GUI Server." Under IPCONFIG it also shows up correct.
Any thoughts on why the MVP can lock onto the IP, but can't load the GUI. (even with firewall turned off)

Silly question but did you make sure Extender service is enabled on the server?

Are you using a crossover cable to connect the mvp to the nic?
can you ping the mvp from the server?

go to Start and type cmd then hit enter
now type the following ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
x= ip address of mvp

You should get a response with 0 lost packets.

Try specifying the ip address of the server in the Sage.properties file. It might be binding to the primary nic and not your secondary one.

were you ever sucessfull in pinging the box? I almost bet he is on the wrong subnet for that card or an ip has not been set on the LAN nic on the pc.

Ping was successful.

I have the application giving the LAN adapter an IP of 192.168.3.10.
I have the application giving the MVP an IP of 192.168.3.11.
I pinged 192.168.3.11 and was successful.
MVP connects to IP 192.168.3.10 on the connection configuration screen.
I also configured the LAN adapter to (not do an autoconfig) and punched in the numbers: 192.168.3.10, and a new subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 which is different from the wireless network subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Also I disabled IPv6 on the LAN adapter as well to limit my confusion. (doesn't work with it enabled either)

I inserted
miniserver/forced_server_ip=192.168.3.10
and I noticed a difference in the wording on the MVP's setup screen.
Instead of it saying "contacting servers" (with those little white boxes across the bottom be progressively filled and then repeated) it says "loading applicationr" like it did with my old setup. However after about 3/4 of those little boxes fill it switches to a black screen like it's loading the GUI, but the screen just remains black. So it looks as if the GUI is now loading, but not completely maybe? I also noticed an entry in sage.properties right below the force ip line that shows a default gateway. My LAN adapter has no default gateway, so I don't know if this address is having any effect. I also doesn't match the default gateway that is on my wireless adapter.

The only firewall I have on this machine is the Windows firewall. I have it turned off for all this though.

EDIT: I'm having an issue uploading the sage.properties file. Getting invalid file error.

Take a look at this. Try reordering your connections. Also, search for miniserver in the search box for other threads. A couple of users trying to do what you want to do with mixed results.
