I just realized -- you have the HD100 configured to auto-connect to your server when powered on, don't you? I do so much testing & connecting to multiple servers, that I don't have any of mine auto-connect & forgot about the timeout period. (Besides, using the Power button causes it to reconnect to the last server anyway.) So, thanks for posting that & making me wonder where the 5 seconds came from.

Got mine last night. UPS guy didn't arrive until after 7:30pm!

Hooked it up and I am stunned. It's actually better than I was expecting, which I didn't think was possible. It played all the wacky videos I threw at it... MJPEG from an old digital camera, MP4 from a new one, and even FLV files using the VP6 codec!! Woohooo! The screen looks very clean and sharp at 1080P on my LCD TV over HDMI. I'm also impressed with how small it is. Just about the only gripe I have is that I'm going to have to cover that link LED with black tape. The constant blinking from activity is driving me nuts. Heh.

I can't tell you how glad I am that I decided to order two of them instead of one, and hold off on the HTPC build. The WAF on the whole setup is going to be off the charts!

I'm digging it too.
Although, I wish it was of the standard a-v equipment width. I have some other odd sized items in my TV stand that will make it hard to find a good place for the HD100.

Mitch

I agree it would have been nice if it were the standard 17" wide, but otherwise this thing is awesome. Soooo much quicker than my MVP's (although slighly slower than my pc clients). I have no complaints.....

It's not often you hear someone complain "Gee, I wish it were bulkier."

Although, if it were just a bit wider there would have been space in the center for a DVD drive.

I wish it were smaller. It certainly doesn't need to be that big if you've seen the inside. For my main TV, it's in a rack. For my second 19" bedroom TV, it sits vertically next to it. At 19", that would look even more silly.

That's true, smaller (mac-mini sized for example) would be nice.
But, hey if this is all we have to complain about, we should be happy.

Talking ...and even gave me more options on my TV!!

I got my first HD100 yesterday and I also LOVE it!! It was quick and painless to set up--except for the fact I had completely missed that it only has optical digital audio out and no coax. I had to make a quick run to RadioShack, but the firmware updated while I made the run.

One "extra" that the HD100 gave me is that my TV sees it as a video device instead of a computer!! I have a new plasma TV, and when I connected to my Sage client, the TV recognized my client as a computer and severely limited the calibration options available to me. The HD100 is seen as a video device by the TV, so all the options are now available on the TV!!

The HD100 offers easy set-up, a better picture, and even gave me more options on my TV!! And we wonder why Sage can't keep them in stock....

I'd really like to know how many they just sold in this second batch.

Until the component capture devices come out S-video would give you a noticeably sharper picture than composite.

I already saw that before you posted, but as on 'Allo! 'Allo!, I decided I shall say that only once.

After having the HDExtender sit in the box next to the couch cuz work was crazy, I finally installed it a few hours ago. I got some interesting unsolicited feedback from wife who just started up the HDExtender to watch TV in the MBR.

She said "hey, what did you do? The picture quality seems MUCH better." (I used to have an MVP in high quality mode).

I wonder if this means she's more likely or less likely to approve the 2nd Plasma purchase in that room...

Purchase the 2nd plasma while she's distracted. It's interesting that a wife noticed the PQ difference.

My wife noticed it too. We were using an MVP hooked to an HDTV at High Quality and now that we have switched to HD Extenders, she is loving HD even more. Now if only I can convince her we need it for the bedroom.....

Wait, you mean other guys have these same problems???

(actually, I have to be honest, my wife actually finally admitted a few days ago that she could see how much nicer the HD stuff looked)

Yes many other guys have this very same problem, you aren't the only one, it isn't a big deal, and there is a fix for it....wait are we still discussing Sage/HD?

Yeah, me neither.. that amber light on my switch threw me for a second.. next to all those pretty green lights indicating gigabit connectivity.. I put a tiny piece of green lighting gel over the light and now they are all gigabit!
