SMB imports not working

I have some samba shares on a server I want sage to use as imports. I am running sage as a service with a real user account and password, and the user has RW access to the shares. If I browse to NETWORK/etc and select the share I want I get the message "INVALID DIRECTORY".. If I specify it in the form \\server\share, I get a list of the directories there but I cannot use the current \\server\share as the import. This is driving me nuts. How do I fix this?

Did you check if the user also has access rights on the file system level?

The user is an administrator user, and has the password for the share, and write access to the share.

If you can access the share via windows explorer using this user the share should be fine. If you are using Service Mode you need to run the SageTV Service as the user who is able to access the share. I never used Sage without the service but I think in this case your current windows user needs to be able to access the file share.

The current desktop user and the service user are the same user and the user can access the share. Still I get "INVALID DIRECTORY" in sage.

I just gave it a try on my system. I am using pretty much the same setup homegrown Linux NAS with a media share. When I browse I get INVALID DIRECTORY. Try specifying the path e.g. \\server\share and then click select current.

Edit: I just read in your first post that you cannot use the current directory as an import. Does it give you an error?

That worked although I remembered not seeing the select current button before.. mabye when I was browsing to it.

So browsing to the share doesn't work.. BUG?

What are the actual file permissions involved? It sounds like you might be missing execute permissions somewhere. In the case of browsing folders in linux, execute means to enter the folder. So you may have permission to read the folder once you're in it, but from \\server you are not able to enter the share. Just something to check.
