Fixed black screen...sort of

I finally fixed my problem with video not showing on my HP2710p laptop placeshifter by updating the intel graphics driver.
The "Update Driver" button in Device Manager didn't find any updated. Then I went to the Intel's website and DID find an updated driver, but it wouldn't install....said something about not being an approved driver and the installer would quit. So then I went to HP's driver page for the 2710p and found an updated driver there, though not as high a version number as the one on Intel's website. But this driver did install and did allow me to see placeshifter video again!! BUT ONLY WHEN THE SCREEN IS IN LANDSCAPE ORIENTATION. (The HP2710p is a tablet pc with a rotating screen.)
