A few questions that no one has asked...

I have a few questions that I believe no one has asked...at least after searching for a couple hours in the forums, I can't find an answer.

1. Is there a way to remove the "Adult" category completely from the Browse by Category section?

2. Most important!! Is there a way to transfer over my channel setup to a new computer. I've read about the wiz.bin file, but that is not working. I have two computers with similar setup. One has all the channel I want, the other does not. i copy the wiz.bin file from the good PC to the work in progress PC and there channel guide still contains the default channels and not the channels from the good PC.

This is really bugging me and I don't want to remap all my channels. Can anyone please help?!

Channel lineups are in the Sage.properties file. I would send your category question to SageTV Support. But please post a response back here as I am interested in what the answer is.

What's your goal? Moving to a new PC (there's an FAQ on that), but basically you copy the wiz.bin (the recording database) and the sage.properties file.

If you just want to be able to view/record on the second PC, then maybe SageClient is what you're looking for.

My goal is...I'm creating a SageTV server for my sister and she has the same channel lineup I do of Dish Network. So I don't need the recording database...just the channel lineup...meaning only channels that I get/want are shown in the EPG.

It's a pain to have to manually select which channels I want in the EPG and I was hoping to save some time and just copy them from my setup since our TV provider is the same. Hope this clarifies.

Actually, I recommend that sage.properties not be copied from one PC to another because some items might be machine specific.

There are a whole bunch of epg/xxxxx & epg_data_sources/xxxxx properties. Those are probably the lines needed, but I've never tried copying just the channel lineup settings from one install to another. Maybe do a basic setup on the other PC, then make a backup of the SageTV installation & try replacing the epg-related property lines.

You can copy the epg channel lineups from one properties file to another, you just have to make sure all the references point back to one another. For instance the properties for the encoder point to specific epg source and that epg source then points to a channel lineup. You just need to make sure they all point to the correct spot. I don't have access to my properties file right now, but later on today I could cut and paste an example for you.

If you look at the two properties files you can figure this out without much trouble. I think the only thing that will trip you up is the encoder IDs will probably not be the same from machine to machine.
