Exclamation can sageMC be a server and client at the same time

Hi Guys
I have 2 pc running sageMc ( version 6.3 ). the first pc has a dvbs card pointing to nilesat and is located in Tunisia.
The second has also a dvbs card pointing to hotbird in the netherlands.
my question now:
Can I access to the tv channel of nilesat in netherlands - like placeshiffter do but without having to use it ?
and others can 2 sageMC act like client server ?
Note that I have a vpn connecting both PC.
Thanks in advance for your help guys .
Cheers
Slim

Just need some clarification....

Let's call the Tunisa dvbs Sage box as Box 1 and the hotbird as box 2.

So am I right in thinking that you want to use Box 1 and 2 as clients? I assume both hooked to seperate tv's? And you want to be able to see what is being tuned on box 1 is also available on box 2 (and vice versa)? Am I right?

If all above are true, I can't answer this entirely. You can use seperate boxes as "network encoders". Meaning that say Box 1 would be your "main" Sage server and Box 2 would be more or less a "dummy" box that just captures the dvb stream and sends it to Box 1.

What I can't answer is if Box 2 in the scenario above can be used as a client. Yes you could on top of running Sage on Box 2 as a network encoder (Which requires you to run the full blown software), you could also run Sage Client (but you will need a client license). This would work, but you might also be able to run the network encoder as a client without having to run the seperate client software....

I hope I followed your question well enough. If not, disregard my train of thought here and hopefully someone else will pipe up!

You can use a network encoder setup, as mentioned above, to have a single SageTV server for all clients.

Or, you can use the -client command line parameter to have the UI on one machine connect to the other.

But, if they are separate servers, you can't have them share recording info, though you could make one machine's recordings be imported videos on the other.

SageTV would be the network encoder -- see Appendix G of the SageTV PDF manual in your SageTV install dir.

Unless you have one BIG FAT internet pipe, placeshifter or a HD extender in Placeshifter mode are your only real working alternatives. Trying to watch mpg files across a typical internet connection is going to be an exercise in futility...

Oh yeah... somehow I missed that the two PCs were not in the same place. Network encoders isn't really an option.
