Favorite definition string is too specific - how to modify?

How can I modify the favorite search string?

My problem is that the string for a Favorite program is too specific.

For example:
I want to add all episodes of Red Dwarf as a favorite.
I select an episode (eg "Red Dwarf - The End") from the program guide, and select "Add this show as a favorite"
I now have a favorite called "Red Dwarf - The End"
This records the episode selected, but does not record any other episodes (eg. "Red Dwarf - Future Echoes"
I want to modify the Favorite search string to be simply "Red Dwarf", which should get all episodes.

Thanks.

If the EPG data is set up that way with each episode having a different title name, instead of the title being the same, and the episode name changing, I don't think you can modify the favorite's title string.

However, you can set up a Keyword favorite with "Red Dwarf" as the string. You could limit the keyword to Title Searches, or for all matches.

This was a lesson learned for me when I thought I had a favorite for "Survivor"; turns out it was for whatever season was currently showing "Survivor - Africa" or whatever. My wife and I sat down one evening to watch the start of the new season, and nothing had recorded!

That's the way to do it. I'm proud to say that my wife figured that one out all by herself

The Keyword Favorite works great.

Thanks for the quick replies (and apologies for my slow response - we had a storm last week and I have been without phone + internet)

Cheers,
Michael

How do you "limit the keyword to title searches?"

In the default STV, it asks when you create a keyword Favorite.

I believe you use SageMC, in which case you should check that part of the forum.

If SageMC doesn't have the option, or if the Fav already exists in the default STV, then you can put TITLE: in front of the keyword(s).

Thanks for the quick response Andy - I wonder if you ever rest - you are seriously always working on these forums

I do use SageMC which you are correct does not have that options so thanks for the "Title:" tip. I'm writing up a blog post on setting up title and keyword favorites with various search strings with how-to's on both the default STV as well as SageMC so it's good for me to understand the differences too.

That was an automated reply. I'll check its accuracy later.

Here's a silly thought about favorites - How about putting in one of the open source Regex evaluators and letting us specify favorites with Regular Expressions.

Just a thought.
