Might want to add that you need to remove the "#" character before the port line in the properties file for noobs like me who will spend 15 minutes wondering why we can't connect even though we designated the port...

Sparhawk6,
Could you help me understand what you mean with the "remove the # character?"

Thanks,

Thanks,
The port link is commented out by default. The # sits before it.
By default it reads

Code:
#jetty.port=8080
You need to remove the "#" to make the port selection effective.

I'm getting a HTTP ERROR: 503 error. I've tried installing it three times and get the same error.

I'm using the latest:

jettystarter_1_2
SageWebApp.zip (just downloaded it)

A snippet from my sagetv_0.txt shows it is starting correctly:
Sat 6/14 14:49:10.175 jetty.port=8088
Sat 6/14 14:49:10.175 jetty.logs=C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\jetty\...
Sat 6/14 14:49:10.175 jetty.configfiles="C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\jetty...
Sat 6/14 14:49:10.175 jetty.home=C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\jetty
Sat 6/14 14:49:10.176 Starting Jetty from the following configuration files: 'C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\jetty/etc/jetty.xml'
a snippet from the jetty.log file
209.183.51.18 - - [14/Jun/2008:19:53:09 +0000] "GET /sage/m/menu.jsp HTTP/1.1" 503 1322 "-" "MOT-RAZRV3xx/96.71.95R BER2.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; 11063081) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 Opera 8.00 [en] UP.Link/6.3.1.17.06.3.1.17.06.3.1.17.0"
so it is seeing the requests.

It looks like the webapp did not get installed. Any suggestions?

thanks,
dave

Make sure you have the jetty/contexts/sagewebapp.xml and jetty/webapps/SageWebApp.war files. If they're there, try opening and saving sagewebapp.xml to update the file's timestamp. Jetty will reload the app if the timestamp changes.

I have both and updated both file access times, but get the same results.

I stoped sagetv, touched both files, noted their access times were changed, restarted sagetv.

I get the same 503 error externally or internally accessed.

Neilm's webserver works just fine on a different port.

Here is what I see:

HTTP ERROR: 503

SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE

RequestURI=/sage/m/menu.jsp

Powered by jetty://

I am running Sage as a service.

Did you follow Brent's instructions? You made still need to add a line to the sage.properties file as per his post.

I assume you mean post #3. I looked at that and there is nothing there about adding a line.

I can see that it is getting the page requests via the Jetty logfile. I also just checked file permissions and they seem to be OK, as all users have read&execute permissions.

Thought I'd also say, I never get prompted for a password.

Ideas anyone?

Check out this post (#39) and check through the steps listed there to see if there's anything you haven't done yet when installing.

Yes, my typo, I meant #39.

I downloaded the webapp from that link. It was the same as what I had downloaded earlier.

I can tell when the server is not running, because when I refresh my browser it reports nothing there, but after I start SageTV I get the Error 503 error.

EDIT:

I also get this in netstat -a
TCP sage-server:8088 localhost:1273 ESTABLISHED

Were all these files extracted to SageTV's JARs folder?
  • ant-1.6.5.jar
  • core-3.1.1.jar
  • jetty-6.1.7.jar
  • jetty-starter.jar
  • jetty-util-6.1.7.jar
  • jsp-2.1.jar
  • jsp-api-2.1.jar
  • servlet-api-2.5-6.1.7.jar
And were there any errors in sagetv_0.txt after the section you posted above?

Sorry you're having problems. Can you post the following files?
  • SAGE_HOME/JettyStarter.properties
  • The files specified in the jetty.configfiles property in JettyStarter.properties.
  • SAGE_HOME/jetty/contexts/sagewebapp.xml

Hmmm.... The files look good. I'm logging off soon, but I'll try them on my machine tomorrow. One other thing, did you make any changes to SAGE_HOME/jetty/etc/realm.properties?

Yes, if I had not done that, then I would not be able to see the port being monitored. Also the Error 503 I get is from the Jetty server.
