HD100 - Nice but that link light is annoying!

Just got the HD100, very nice, no issues so far.

However, that link light is very, very annoying when the box is under the TV.

Is there any way to disble it, or buffer it so it doesnt flash so much?

Pry out the plastic front and put the electrical tape there and put the front back on?

That's a good idea. You should probably email support with that suggestion.

A firmware update won't change the link light. It's hardwired to the ethernet chip.

I thought it was kind of strange to have that on the front pannel too, but mine flashes so fast you have to pay attention to actually see it so it doesn't bother me.

I'd go for removing the face plate and covering over the light from the back side as suggested. Should do the trick and look good.

As most of what I play at the moment is SD my light flashes very noticably.

I might see if I can find a large capacity to put across it. That should dim it and even out the flashes a bit.

Personally, I love the light. I'm a feedback kinda guy, though. I like to know what's doing what when. <smile> Feed me info!

Yea, I actually don't mind the light either. I actually have to bend over to actually see it because from my viewing position I can't actually see it very well. Maybe I should count myself lucky?

Honestly I was a little unhappy with ALL the lights... especially the red one but this thing is so awesome and such a terriffic value that there is no way I would gripe about it. Instead I took some black electrical tape and cut it in very small circles and placed them over the LED's I can still see peripheral glow but the full on effect is gone. Looks.... its darn near invisible because of the black face cover.

You can get some really neat tape circles with a paper hole punch.

What light? Oh yeah, those weak blinking lights on HD-100 just below BRIGHT blue blinking lights on my Dlink Extreme N router. Seriously, give it a month and you won't even notice it. Those two actually make pretty decent night lights in my family room.

I like the network activity light. It lets me know when my wife left something playing on the HD100 (often times when she is watching live tv thru it, she inadvertently forgets to hit stop when she is done). If I see the network light going crazy, I just hit stop on the remote and I know its done playing.
