I installed a STV or STVI on my HD100. It hosed up and can only stay on one screen. How do I go back to the basics? I need to reset just the HD100 box. I already tried the switch off back of box, and hold menu and up arrow on from of box while turning on back switch.

It reset the box but the stvi/stv is still loaded. I cannot access any manu (only shows live tv)

Thanks ahead for your help.

You can reset the STV by removing the STV property from the extender's properties file. In the "clients" subfolder where SageTV is installed, you will find the extender's properties file named <mac address>.properties, using the mac address of the extender.

Power off the extender, then edit its properties file in a text editor and remove the STV= property line. Save the file, then when you restart the extender, it should load the default STV, or whatever one was defined on that property line in sage.properties.

I done screwed up too, but every time I delete the line (or set it to a known working file), it resets to my screwed up file.

I didn't even think I screwed up; i loaded Nielm's dynamic customisable menu, mucked with the menus so I had them how I want it, works fine on the server but not on the HD100.

Any ideas on how to force it to take my prior SageTV setting?

EDIT: Well, I physically renamed my hokey .xml file so it couldn't be found, which served the final purpose of going back to the default SageTV3.xml. Man I was sweating there.

I've only seen this when SageTV hasn't been exited completely including the service. If you no longer see any processes in Task Manager starting with SageTV then you should be good.

HD 100 not responding

I ran the sageMC installer and went to selected the sagemc XML. now the extender just says that it is starting up and never leaves that screen. I have tried holding down the two buttons on the front of the extender and restarting it to no avail. any ideas?

It sounds like you imported it as an STVI instead of loading a STV. (Second button choice on the setup menu of SageMC.

Adding a few keywords to this post to help others who may have done the same thing I did--loaded the wrong application package so that the media extender did not work anymore.

If you just installed a new application package and now your extender no longer works read the post by Opus4 to see how to fix it:

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...78&postcount=2

the following words may help with a search of the forums:

reset media extender
reset application package
change extender from pc or computer
how to put original .xml or .stvi package back to the extender or reset it to default

Edit: btw, thanks for the fix, Opus4. I could not locate this information in the manual and took me some time to find this thread.

the file he is referring to for most ppl would be in

program files/sagetv/sagetv/clients
if you cannot see the word properties at the end its because you have file extensions hidden in your folder settings

right click it and say open with wordpad.

If this sounds too complicated, uninstalling and reinstalling your SageTV program would help but you should backup your sage.properties and wiz.bin files to help speed things up when you reinstall it.
