Does anyone have an idea on wny my music library isn't work? here is my setup

1. New load of vista
2. HD-PVR
3. Loaded ONLY the PVR drivers (I did not load TME)
4. I've tried modifying sageclient.properties as advised previously for vista
5. I've gone ahead and added the line to sage.properties even though I'm running sage as a service
6. I've turned on debug logging and did notice a java error in there that says something about case conversion
7. When I select an mp3 file to play, the timeline goes as expected, I just get no actual sound.
8. I have several MPEG4 files that have mp3 as the audio codec. I had to change from directsound to the sage player to get audio for those shows (not my preference but it worked.
9. WMP plays these same mp3 files with no problem
10. The mp3 library is on a UNC path but it pulled all the files into the library fine

Any idea would help.

Mike

I also can't get this to work. I'm on Vista running in service mode, and I've tried updating the videoframe line in sageClient.properties to use the Vista DMO thing from the first post and I still get no sound. Then I installed ffdshow and graphedit now shows that ffdshow gets used when I play a file with mp3 audio, and I changed the videoframe line to use ffdshow. It seems to use it because when I play the files now in Sage I get the little ffdshow icon popping up in the system tray. But I still get no audio output. Audio works perfectly on all other file types and even files with mp3 audio play fine in WMP and graphedit.

Does anyone have any idea what else can be done on this? For those of you using the DMO setting in Vista, what does that line look like for you in DirectShow Filter Manager? For me MP3 Decoder DMO shows "Unknown" for every column (Company, Module, CLSID).

So I've been able finally to get the avi videos with mp3 audio working but only with the ffdshow decoder. I had to uncheck the mixer option in the ffdshow configuration panel. However, I still get no audio whatsoever from .mp3 files, so none of my music works. If I change sageClient.properties from ffdshow to the "MP3 Decoder DMO" that's supposedly built into Vista, I get nothing on the .mp3 files or the .avi files.

I also can't get mp3's to work with Vista and sageTV running in service mode. I updated the sageClient.properties and also sage.properties (just in case) with "videoframe/mp3_audio_decoder_filter=MP3 Decoder DMO" without any luck.

I finally tried running SageTV in stand-alone mode (service disabled). In this mode, the mp3 files work fine. I switched back to service mode, and the mp3 files no longer work. They act like they're playing, but no sound comes out.

Anyone have any further suggestions given this new information?

I did this as well as uninstalling ArcSoft b/c I don't use it anyway.

MP3 played back, but its playing with skips and pops, and slow. . . not sure what is going on. . .

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. . .

I managed to get it working again using the information in Brent's first post.
Thanks Brent for the tip.

I too have this issue

Ok, I too have this issue. I am struggling to resolve it. I have sagetv running as a service on WHS. I on rare occassion run a client on the WHS when I'm working in the basement, but for the most part the clients are two hd200 which work perfect and a client running on Win7 Professional. I tried changing the line to
Code:
videoframe/mp3_audio_decoder_filter=MP3 Decoder DMO
thinking that should get mp3s to play again on my win7 box, but it didn't work. Does win7 have a different decoder I need to use? Should I uninstall ArcSoft on my win7 PC and find out what the decoder should be?

Thanks in advance.

mp3's don't play but wma files do

My mp3's won't play in Sage but wma files play fine in Vista. I have arcsoft installed. I use sagetv mpeg as the audio decoder...

I found the solution with some serious trial and error. End of the day I updated sage.properties file to just this:

videoframe/mp3_audio_decoder_filter=MP3 Decoder DMO

Worked great. Bob Dylan is alive again....

Unregister the Arcsoft audio decoder.
