Slow browsing of Video Share within Sage

Hi all,

I have noticed that when inside sage if I try to browse my videos (not recorded tv) I get really sluggish response and keep seeing the spinning circle on the screen..
This happens on the client and server, the videos are stored on my NAS which is connected via gigabit and loads perfectly quickly from windows or any other apps.
I have 6 folders at the root; TV, Live Comedy, Films etc.. and even browsing that list is slow!

Also I've noticed that Sage seems to be ignoring some (only some!) of the folder.jpg's I have (all of them are created in photoshop by me and are identical res - 370x180) I see thumbs from the videos within the folder instead!

Things I've tried so far;
  • Upped the Java Heap to 512mb on the client and server
  • Checked powersaving properties on nics at the server and client
  • Tested on the server directly - same issue
  • Altered the Sage service credentials to match the logged in user @ the server

Anything else I can try?!? I'm stumped - It only seems to affect the videos, Music on my NAS browses fine within Sage...

Thanks!

What types of videos are they mostly?

What video types are mainly stored in those folders?

I seem to have something similar when I have more than 40 windows media video files in a folder .... other (divx, xvid) types I can have over a hundred videos in a video storage folder with no slowdown.

What I did since they were video shorts was converting them from WMV to xvid ...

99.9% of the videos are divx/xvid.
But the main root doesn't have any video files directly below it only folders which then have videos inside them.. and browsing that is still slow.

I have a similar issue. In my case even if I shut down Sage, and try to access the NAS drive using Windows Explorer, I get sluggish performance. Only if I shut down Sage service do I get good response in Windows Explorer - but even then its not perfect. From other PCs in the network (Gigibit ethernet), NAS drive is perfectly fast. Strangely, even from the Sage server, accessing other network shares on other PCs is perfectly fast, so it does not seem to be a NIC issue. Any advice.

OK - I figured this is happening since I installed the Fanart customization, and somehow, the customization is looking for some files on the NAS drive, not finding them, and thus going into this crazy loop which slows down all access to the NAS. If I shut down Sage and the Server, NAS performance becomes normal again.

Now I am trying to figure out how to remove the Fanart customization.

I have not been able to uninstall Fanart/BMT, and in fact, I went ahead and did a complete update and install of the latest BMT/ Phoenix customizations, hoping that it would actually start working OK, but no - I still have no Fanart, and endlessly spinning circles when I try to access the video libraries.

Any advice/ help would be terrific.
