These make it difficult to compare one-to-one. If you connected your Cable STB s-video out to your capture card, you might get a better picture.

HD (ATSC or QAM) recordings from a digital tuner should display the same as your cable box.

Does Pinnacle even HAVE an HDTC card? You must be referring to the PCTV HD TV Tuner Card. What are you recording: Analog, ATSC or QAM?
The crad you have linked is the card I have. Unfortunately I do not see it on the supported card list. This might be the problem. I will have to check my recording settings tonight (analog, ATSC, or QAM) I threw together a quick mapping of my network. Check it out here...

I'm willing to bet your cable box is picking up the digital signal, whereas your tuner card is still picking up the analog. You could probably fix the resolution problem by using your card's QAM capability to grab the digital signal instead.

I'll give that a try tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

Could it be signal loss?

Check out this site.

I'm still using a SD TV. PQ through Sage, live and recorded, is actually much better than RG6 directly to TV. Go figure.

Good luck, Ken
