There is just one slip seeking at 18:55:45 in your log, there are 3274 ms missing.

could you save a recording with which you can repeat the problem to upload?

If I find one then yes I will save it. Like I mentioned earlier, I had my biggest problems were on a live recording.

Here is a log from a live recording tonight that at around the snip of the log I took went all over the place...first ruined the end of the show for us then ended back up at the beginning twice then finally back to where I wanted to be.

It's still a problem handling a bad PTS, if I get a recording file, the fixing will be more easier.
anyway, I have an update for it,
http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/6.5.4/MpegDeMux.ax version (2.0.1.23)

I saved the recording then I accidentally deleted it the next day. Will make sure I save the next one it happens to.

Hi,
Not sure if this is exactly related, but when I am watching a MPEG2 videos and press fast forward (10 second skip ahead) too fast, Sage locks up hard. No circle of death, just a hard lock up. I can use task manager to kill the Sage EXE and start again. It happens consistently on several recordings I have. I have the latest MpegDemux version from this thread. I recently upgraded from 6.4 and did not have the problem there.

thanks,
scott

For the heck of it, I switched to the default STV and my recordings work fine. So I doubt my problem has anything to do with the file discussed in this thread. I suppose I should have mentioned I was running SageMC in the beginning, so I apologize. I found a bunch of errors related to the Slimplayer SageMC plugin in the log files at the time of the crash, so my first thought was to change to the default STV and see how things work there. So far so good. Sorry to waste your time!

When I upgraded to 6.5.4, I get all the freezing spinning wheel stuff again any time I try to fast forward or rewind multiple times in a row. Have to shut down the UI and restart. Reverting back to the demux from 6.4.8 solves it still. I can replicate it at will. Just start watching any program and hit fast forward about 6 times in a row and the whole UI freezes.

I've tried every release, and while I"ve not had any lock-ups, sometimes when a commercial break skips, I'm re-watching what was before the skip break. One press of the RW button sets everything back to normal.

I am seeing this too. I emailed a bug report last night and was told there is a new RC coming either last night or today. And since I don't see it yet, I would assume today . But I was told this one should solve the demux problems.

the 6.5.5 RC is already posted, if you have a trouble FF/RW, send us a log file.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
To enable MpegDeMux.log
create an empty file "MPEGDEMUX_LOG.ENABLE" in sagetv directory, restart
sagetv. sagetv creates a log "MpegDemux.log"
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I created the file on the SageTV\SageTV and in SageTV\Common and I dont see a MpegDemux.log (I want to create a log to send on a video that makes my Sage hang and be non responsive till a process restart). Do I have to add anything else on my properties file?

Why is it whenever I decide to try a Release Candidate version of SageTV, it is severely broken for me

So, I upgraded Server and Client from 6.4.8 to 6.5.5 today and now I am also getting the spinning circle of death when trying to ffw/rew. Attached is the SageTV Client debug log and the MpegDemux.log. I reverted the client back to the default STV (no imports) restarted SageTV Client, played a recording, fast forwarded, got spinning circle of death, ctrl-alt-del, and then killed SageTVClient process. This was using VMR9 video renderer, nVidia Video Decoder and AC3Filter Audio Decoder.

But wait, that's not all. Before turning on the debug logging, I tried blasting the properties file and let SageTV Client create a new one. I had it set for VMR9 with SageTV Video and Audio Decoders, played a recording and it started OK, but then the audio got stuck in a short loop which repeated itself a couple of times, and then I got a Windows 'This application has encountered a problem and cannot continue' error and the faulting module listed was stvm2vd.ax.

My server is headless and not used for playback so I can't say whether or not the problem also affects the server. I did test my MVP clients and this problem does not seem to affect the MVP, so far only my Windows PC client.

I was able to 'fix' the problem on the PC client by switching to my PowerDVD 8 video and audio decoders.

Same here. Rapid FFW or Rewind makes it happen every time. Circle of death. Killing the process is the only way out.

I do not have Power DVD 8 so I cannot try that to verify it.

Attached are the log files.

Fix: seeking lock up.
I gave that a try.. tried loading a MKV which I previous had seriour problems (I could verly hit FFWD like 2 or 3 times before it crashed). Now I could FFWD a couple of times more (like 20) but it hanged sage again

How can I make MpegDeMux create the log? I already created a MPEGDEMUX_LOG.ENABLE file on the Common dir, but I dont see a log file been created. Just as a note I use dshow filters to render my media (and on this case it uses the CoreAVC 1.8.5 codec for video)
