Thanks Andy I will make that registry change. This PC just started having this problem but nothing has been changed for a while. Why would it all of a sudden have this problem? It also says in the Faq that this will only affect future recordings. Does that mean that current recordings that have this problem are unusable, unless converted to another format?

I'm trying to enable logging.
I added the MPEGDEMUX_LOG.ENABLE file and restarted sagetv, but its not generating the log file.
If I only use an extender, does this topic relate to me???
Thanks

The demux is only for pc playback, whether it's on the server or a PC client. It is not involved in playback on an extender.

Ok. That would explain why I'm unable to generate the log file.
Wondering why tech support wanted me to generate the log file when I only have the HD100...

Did they specially ask you to generate a log file for the demux or did they ask you to enble debug logging? If it is debug logging and you're running the latest beta you can now do that from Detailed Setup-Advanced-Debug Logging and you can turn it on for both the server and the client.

Yes, the reply I got from tech support specifically wanted debug logging for the demux.
Im on the latest beta (.13). I'll check out that option, when I get home.
Thanks for the heads up...

I checked out the setting you suggested, but its not generating the Mpegdemux log file. I went back to verify the setting, and its states "local" client. I would assume that means the client side of the app on the server.
Unfortunately the server doesn't have the video muscle to view content...

Sorry for the confusion. That setting has nothing to do for the demux logging. Just for the standard SageTV debug log. Since the extenders don't use the demux it is strange that support would request it.

DeMux Scaling problem (redux...)

I apologise in advance for resurecting a problem originally described in
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...&postcount=285

above... I had put this down to a quirk of my system but i recently changed the video card and updated to 6.5.20 and find the problem is still there.

In a nutshell the latest MpegDeMux.ax files result in a display which seems to be scaled up by a factor of two and all i get to see is the top left corner of the video.

I am using the Nvidia Decoder. The original Video card was a Nvidia 7600GT and the new one is a Radeon 4550... I have kept copies of many of the de-mux files that were posted on this thread and have determined that this effect first showed up after v 2.0.1.20 and in or before 2.0.1.23. This determined by playing back a recording that shows the problem and testing the de-mux files one by one with no other changes to the system or settings. Is anyone else seeing anything at all like this ? Is there still work going on on this file? I will supply log files etc if it will help just let me know what is needed.

Thanks in advance

Peter

Hmmm I seem to have this problem come back when I use ComSkip. Where the audio is several seconds ahead of the video, and the time becomes more and more pronounced as the video plays back. Is there anyway I can troubleshoot this with the help of this forum/thread? Can I post logs or something of the like?

Thanks!

Spinning Arrow & HD-PVR

My system uses OTA ATSC Tuners, PVR-USB2's for analog cable, and an HD-PVR. I get the spinning arrow of death at times. I have to kill SageTV on the server and restart. Sometimes have to restart server.

Is there a fix for this if using the HD-PVR? I thought I read in this thread that the MpegDeMux.ax was not usable in this case.

Thanks for any help.

Actually, I've found that I frequently have an issue with all versions after 2.0.1.28. Maybe 20% of my H.264 recordings from my R5000HD modded Dish Vip211's would just stop playing at a random point in the file. The sage timeline continues, but video and audio just stop. I thought it was a R5000 problem, but I just recently discovered that switching back to 2.0.1.28 fixes it.

According to donkey's posts earlier in this thread, he changed some code structure in the 2.0.1.30 release (the one after 2.0.1.28). 2.0.1.28 is working pretty well for me, so I haven't bothered to submit a bug report with logs.
