I've been playing with the idea of facilitating a series of get-togethers for people interested in home automation and home theater to share their setups, discuss hardware and software, ask questions, etc. Forums are great but I think it would be so much more valuable to be able to talk with people face-to-face and experience other people's setups hands-on.

I'm thinking of maybe a monthly event at different members' homes where we can focus on topics like 'how to integrate HouseBot with myHTPC' or 'how to install structured wiring' or 'how to calibrate a video display', etc. - plus have some free time for Q&A, socializing, etc.
