Can't play past a certain point on a large File and jumps back..

I'm having a weird problem with the extender..
I recorded the baseball game yesterday and was trying to watch it.
It worked fine for most of the show.. but after it got to a certain point, it just jumped back to some early time at the very begining. I tried FFing past it.. but it always jumped back. Now the file was recorded from firewire from the cablebox and was padded 120min. So it's a pretty big file. This is the second time this has happened. Similiar circumstances the first time. I believe that if I play the same file on the server, it works just fine.

Regular shows seem to work just fine... so far...

Anyone else see this?

Jim

I saw it on some of my media clips that I copied to the server. Sage doesn't play based on the actual file but based on the metadata it caches from the file. See this thread

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34667

In my case it cached the metadata sometimes before the file was finished copying and it would stop playing before the end. I have heard two solutions to this problem
1. Try to rename the file
2. Try to stop sage, set force_full_content_reindex=true in Sage.properties and then restart Sage. I tried the 2nd option and it worked for me.

This is a little different.

1. The sage reports the correct length.
2. This isn't an imported video (not sure if that matters for the issue you brought up)
3. The file plays fine on the server.

I'll try the rescan thing though...

Exclamation

This is an old thread but I'm currently having a similar problem. I shutdown the service, added force_full_content_reindex=true, and restarted the service.

Now I'm not sure what to do next. Do I need to set force_full_content_reindex back to false? How do I know when to do this?

Currently, after setting to true & starting the service I cannot start SageTV (it just hangs at the splash screen and displays "SageTV Service is initializing"). Is this normal?

it probably will take some time to go through all the media files on re-indexing... i think it does this during the 'service initialization', which is why it's taking a while. You could use the win 7 resource monitor to see what it's doing. My guess is, the disk tab, would show a lot of activity on your recordings and imports, as sage parses through them.
