One physical channel gives "no signal"

I also think I'm seeing Crunch's problem. I am running the beta versions.

In my setup physical channel 80 has 3 sub-channels on them. All 3 give a "No signal" error. No other channels have the issue. The good news is that all 3 are PBS stations, so it's not the end of the world at this point.

Tonight I will test, gather evidence, try the original versions, and probably file a bug report.

Hope!

UPDATE
Qian sent me two sets of files over the last week to try and resolve my issues.
The first was a disaster.
The second worked. No 'No Signal' issues and no crashes after changing channel from a 'no signal' situation. I have sent him my logs, so I hope all is well with them. New files only been in half a day. The next few evenings will be the test.

a new fix for Crunch's no signal problem

Here is the update to share
http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/6...howCapture.dll.

the main problem in Crunch' problem is QAM channel modulation not sepecified (mod:0) in scn and frq file. the new fix uses QAM 256 (mod:11) for those channels (mod:0).

Nice job! I assume if we didn't have Crunch's problem, we should stick with the originals?...or is this safe for everyone?

I replaced the new file and scan for channels again, it resulted in the frq files still having mod:0 for all the channels. Yet it's only a few channels that won't tune.

I manually changed all the mod:0 to mod:11 in both the frq and scn files, and ran a new channel scan with the exact same results...

It'll tune one sub channel and not another on the same channel.

Are you filing a bug report for SageTV to follow up on?

I am still working with Sage and Silicon dust to find a solution to my problems.

I have tried many things, but we have not found a working solution yet.

In my case Sage is requesting the wrong frequency from the HDHR.

Some Channels "No Signal"

I can see what the problem is. I just don't know how to fix it.

Using HDHomerun Manager I can see the status of each channel that works..

- Tunes to correct channel
- Tunes to correct Sub-channel. Status shows (1,2,3.....)
- Bitrate is 18-20 Mbs.

On the two channels with "No signal".

- Tunes to correct channel
- DOES NOT tune to correct Sub-channel. Status Shows "All"
- Bitrate is 38-40 Mbs.

It looks like the sub-channel splitter is not working. I submitted a bug report.

The good news is after way too many HDHR uninstalls/installs I can now do it in about 15 minutes!!!

Repaired

Submitted a bug report to Sage. Received a reply in less than 24 hrs. Adivsed to try V6.5.2. It corrected the problem. So far no other issues with V6.5.2.

Unfortunately I am already running 6.5.2

None of my channels can tune now... So I am hoping for word back from Sage support soon.

Silicon Dust informs me that Sage is requesting the right frequency, but times 1000.

No Signal Issue On Upgrade

Ok me again,
Decided to do my upgrade. Ended in a mess with same issue as before. No Signal.
In the 20 or more times over the last few years I have setup SageTv with a HDHR, I have never had the thing display a channel straight off. I would say every time I have had to restart several times or do an remove and add tuner. I know its beta, but surely I am due a break?

So here I am on new Vista install and it fails again. Some channels I get some I don't. I get them this morning, I didn't last night, seems to be one or two channels are more prone to fault then others. Channel runs fine in VLC and signal strength and Quality etc is >93% and usually 98 -100%

And yes I believe by now I follow the direction to the letter. Well as close as I can because the HDHR ui changes but not the directions.

Attached my logs.

Filled out bug report.

It has been weeks for me that the HDHR has not worked in Sage.

It's to the point that I have already been testing other PVR apps, mainly VMC. The setup proceedure in VMC is very poor aswell.

The HDHR is a device for people who are willing to jump through multiple hoops to get anything to work. Definately not plug and play.

No hoops here that wouldn't apply to any HD tuner. Have 3 working HDHR and 2 pvr-2250's all working pervect first time they were installed.

Make that QAM. OTA works brilliantly.

For QAM I'm not sure it is hoop jumping but I scan in HDHR app. Make sure the channels names are correct-change them if I have to. Change the channel number to the cable station number (20.1 = cable channel 232). Scan it in Sage and then watch the HDHR. Ok-but it's small hoop.

I had problems when I remapped the logical channels (to put them all together at the end of the guide). Now I just leave them where they are and haven't had any problems (2.1, 14.1, 56.1, etc...with a DVR it doesn't really matter where they are in the guide).
