dish vip211 and inactivity

I just got dish network and a vip211 receiver that I am going to be using a hdpvr on. There is an inactivity timeout on it that requires hitting select to continue. I have tried disabling it in the menu, but it still comes on. Can I have sage send the select key before a channel change? I will be using a Usbuirt if ithelps. I can also use girder if that helps.

Its been awhile since I had to do this, but I had to find the feature that disables the inactivity period and I had to turn off automatic system updates (this is because the system reboots itself after an automatic update effectively putting it in sleep mode)

Cannot Disable Auto Updates on VIP612

I Have a VIP612 and have dug through all the menus and manual pages and there is no way to disable program guide updates. You can only select the time that it will happen.
