SageTV HD Theater HD-200 USB Compatibility List
List what USB hardware you tried that works with the HD-200. I'll start.
i-rocks IR-8100-SL 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader with 3-Port USB2.0 Hub I just plugged this USB Hub/Media Card reader and it works. It read the SD card I had in there.

My WD 120gb Passport USB 2.0 drive works also - played both mpg and ts files without a hitch. HD200 provides plenty of power for this drive also - no external power needed. Nice.
EDIT: My PQI 16gb Traveling Disk 1221 (thumb drive) works as well. Maybe we should have a thread for what doesn't work. Might be a shorter list (we all hope).??

Just a bit of a warning for those experimenting with the HD200. I experimented around with the HD200 and my removable USB drives. About an hour later I went to watch a recording thru SageTV and received a playback exception error (no number).
Cold boot fixed the issue. Everything is working now and I suspect it was all the USB drive swapping on the HD200 that caused the issue.

USB NTFS drive works
I was pleasantly surprised to have a 1TB external USB drive with Ripped DVDs work fine even though it was formatted as NTFS.
Also a 8GB Flash drive worked fine. |

As expected I had a 500GB WD Mybook USB drive formatted as NTFS worked fine for music and videos including 720p MKV's.
I also tried a 250GB Mybook drive which is formatted in EXT3. This drive showed up and I was able to view the file structure but access thru the menus was significantly slower than the NTFS drive. This drive contains several .avi videos which seem to be somewhat jerky when played back. Music files seem to playback fine. |

iPods work (but of course Apple DRM protected files wont play)
And any USB mass storage device should function as well.

My WD 320 external did not work. Not enough power. Keep powering on then off.
Also my InfoSafe (2-320gb 7200 in a mirror config) did not work, even with the power attached. Tried both front and rear USB ports. |

My 120G WD Passport does not work. It looks like not enough power - just keeps making a clicking noise.

Does anyone have two HD200s? I wanna know if you can access the external USB drive connected to one HD200 from another HD200. THe HD200 can be networked in a workgroup so I'm wondering if you can share the external drive over the network between HD200s.

This might a good thing if it can see my HDDVD drive for the Xbox360, so I can finally put it back to use reading DVD's, not HDDVD's of course.

Here is what I would really like to see: HD-200 controlling HD-PVR through USB. I have always had to have my HTPC near my digital cable box to record from it. I need to keep my cable box near my TV to use the remote for on-demand and pay-per-view. If Sage could control the HD-PVR through the HD-200, and the HD-200 could send digital recording from HD-PVR back to the HTPC over Ethernet, I could finally move my HTPC to another room and use it as a server only. I don't know if the HD-200 hardware is capable of something like this, but that would be a heck of a feature. I would buy now!

What you want to be able to do is use the HD-200 as a network encoder with the HD-PVR. To be able to do this the HD-200 would need to be running SageTV Server, not client. It would also add an additional $80 to the cost.

attaboy, if you are adventurous, you can try one of the "USB over ethernet" solutions out there. Not sure how well they work for devices such as the HD-PVR though.

The new beta firmware also has a fix for the USB drive naming so its consistent now and won't change if you re-plug the USB drive.
