Rebuilt system with 6.5.3 and now no audio

I just did a fresh reinstall from Windows XP to Vista Ultimate 32bit (formatted drive and everything). Installed all drivers, installed Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 Ultimate, then installed SageTV Beta 6.5.3 (that's it, nothing else). I get audio when playing back MKV files, but no audio on Sage recordings or DVD's. I've tried every combination of decoder settings with no luck, including Microsoft's decoder and AC3 Filter. On XP with 6.4.8 everything worked fine using Cyberlink as the audio decoder and renderer. I'm getting ready to wipe 6.5.3 and try 6.4.8 to see if that works - but am hoping someone has an idea before I do that. Thanks!

Did another complete reinstall and still and audio worked fine. Installed Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 Ultra -- no audio. Finally got desperate and installed CCCP codec pack. Everything seems to work great now.

Can we assume you installed ac3filter and it is chosen under your setup?

Installation here:

Hi... yes, had ac3filter installed. Even tried unregistering the Sage provided one and used the new one. I now have full 5.1 channel sound for all of my HD content as well as my DVD's and HD MKVs and 1080p video is silky smooth, so I'm happy... for now.

I spoke too soon... I'm now missing the first 5 minutes of new recordings. I know I've seen a post on that before. Off to search.
