Arrow STVi Import: Advanced Movie Info Screen

Movie Info Screen now replaced with Advanced Movie Info Screen.

Version: Advanced_Movie_Info_Screen_V.1.0a_36.xml
Date of Release: 12 Feb 2009

Works with:

SageTV_V6_5_8
SageMC_6_3_8b_12
Java Version 6 update 11

Download can be found Here
Details of changes can be found Here

----------------------
Install Instructions:
----------------------

This import will not import on top of a previous install of Advanced Movie Info Screen - so start with a version of SageMC that doesn't have the Movie Info Screen already imported. It will however import over the top of the old Movie Info Screen but it is not recommended so start with a version of SageMC that doesn't have that import already installed.

Shut down the Sage UI.

BACKUP

Extract all files in this package into your SageTV folder (eg. C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV). Make sure to extract while preserving the directory structure.
start Sage UI.

In SageMC, goto My Menu -> Settings, and select "Import STVi" and import the "Advanced_Movie_Info_Screen_V.1.0a_**" file.

Next goto My Menu -> Settings -> SageMC -> Main -> Screen Specific Options -> Video Library -> Custom Programme Info Screen. Find "AMIS" in the list and select it.

----------------------

This release contains many enhancements which allow the user to customize the way the UI looks and reacts from cover art animations to text color. If you don't want the hassle of setting all the options manually you can use any of the nine premade screen layouts.
Other enhancments over previous versions include the use of .my data, custom keys & external media players.

As usual I'd advise making a backup before you try my import and I make no guarantees that this import wont break your working SageTV setup.

Thanks goes out to MeinMaui, Gplasky, Brent & those who helped on the forums
Thanks also to babgvant for hosting the changes text file and any future beta versions

I've been busy putting the HD200 through its paces today as well as lots of photos, but took some time out to test out Bens awesome new add-on. I love it and did a writeup with a very short screen-cast to show you how it looks with the animations and all. Check it out at GeekTonic

Can't wait to see what Ben does next

This import would not have been possible without the help of MeInMaui who has put lots of time & effort into this project. I'd also like to mention my willing guinea pig, Brent

Thankyou both
By the way, was that a Samuel Smith Imperial Stout you're cheering with Mike and I there? I really love those...

@Mike - Wow congrats on getting that reflection code working!

@jaminben - And another congrats on putting it to good use! You should link to that screencast Brent made posted in the first post. As good as this looks in pictures, it looks even better in motion.

@jaminben, Thanks for the early Xmas present. Are the HD logos and DVD video automatic? Or selectable?

Very Nice Looking!!!!!

One issue I am having, is if I hit "edit title", the dialog box comes up, and all of the text is smashed into a single line. Do you know what may be causing this?

Thanks,
Jeff

I really like the import. It even works for My TV menu! The only issue I have had is that "left as back" does not work.

This is the issue jphipps also has.

Also: Your cant go back to genre page by hiting the left arrow. Is that intended? If so how to get back there?

+1
Great looking plugin, but I have to second the issue with the "Edit Info" dialog and the left arrow = back issues brought up here.

Even DiVinci didn't get it right the first time

Very nice work. However some small issues

Hi,
I love your work. However I have two issues.
1. Edit Video Info presents unreadable text. I think somebody else reported this.
2. How do I exit from this dialog? Left, Back does not work. The only way I found is to press the Home key. However this looses all history of navigation.

Thanks

Love it, even without FanArt it looks slick as heck.

Only issue I see so far, like others have said, left as back is necessary.

I dont think theirs anything I can do about left as back due to the horizontal menu system. To be honest I dont have an issue with this as I use a remote and have always used the back button to exit a screen and not the left button. I could always revert back to a vertical menu but I think that will ruin the fanart. If anyone has any ideas to get around this problem then I'm all ears.

The other issue regarding the edit button is now fixed and is waiting to be tested, I'm not sure how I missed this the first time so apologies for the mistake.

Well after sitting down and thinking about it for a while the solution to left as back has just popped into my head. If all goes well during testing it should be included in the next update to fix the edit button mistake. It may not work how you would like but it does work.

I was just thinking, couldn't it behave like some other screens where when you get to the leftmost highlighted area the next left takes you back a screen?

Personally I use SageMC mostly with a wireless keyboard/mouse and navigating with arrow keys or the mouse is faster to me than the remote. However, if I do use the remote, I still use the arrow keys and seldom reach for the back button.
