Thumbs up Wow

Seriously I have not used FanArt yet and have just recently checked out the "primer" so I hope when I decide to check this out, it is not too difficult to set this up and get it going, cause I really think this is the eye candy that sage has been lacking in the past, for me anyway.

I really don't use TV like most people do apparently. I keep a couple episodes of particular shows at a time and they go when the new ones come out, so I don't see the need for the TV info screen, but I like keeping the movies readily available so this one will be really nice. I just started putting my library on HDD and I think I'm going to keep the DVD folder structure and skip the lengthy transcode/compression stuff. Any tips for making this easily integrated before I get too many movies on the drive and have to start renaming things, etc??

This is surprisingly easy to setup. You realize though don't you that this customization doesn't give you FanArt capability, it just takes advantage of the FanArt capability built into the latest SageMC builds, right? You have to set that up first, but the movie and tv info screen customizations are extremely easy.

Either I don't understand what you're saying, or you don't understand the use of the tv info screen. This is simply a replacement for the standard built-in tv info screen, so whether you keep a show for a day or a year you're still going to see the info screen every time you play it (at least in sagemc). Keeping shows for a long time isn't what gives one a "need" for this import, wanting your tv info screen to look better than the default option is.

Nothing special you need to know. All my DVDs are in their native VIDEO_TS folder structure also. It's kind of silly to spend a ton of time on compression these days when you can get a 1TB drive for about $100. That's like 150+ dvds uncompressed, depending on the movies. The time it would take to oversee 150+ compressions is worth way more than $100 to me.

Just setup your top level folder (or folders) where you have your dvd folders stored as Sage video import directories, do a re-scan and you're all set. No special tips needed.

Well, I totally confused your import with the mediabackground capability. Actually, I have no problem with your import, my issue is getting the mediabackground to show up for the file types I mentioned. I will post my problem in the appropriate forum. Sorry for confusing the two.

Thanks for the great import.

In SageMC -> Settings -> External Programs, external players can be "Enabled". For each Player that is "Enabled" (eg. External Media Player), when a user plays a file of that type SageMC looks for a corresponding .cmd file in the SageMCE folder (eg. C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageMCE) and runs that batch file instead of starting the internal Sage Media Player.

I have both External Media Player and External DVD Player Enabled in the SageMC External Programs settings.

When I play a media file (eg. AVI), SageMC looks for and runs the batch file media_player.cmd.

My media_player.cmd has the following:
"C:\Program Files\Zoom Player\zplayer.exe" /F /Q /MOUSEOFF /AR:2 %1

Therefore, when I play an AVI file Zoom Player plays the file instead of Sage Media Player.

FYI: The External DVD Player runs dvd_player.cmd.

A true thank you if you can look into this.
Hi.... Just wondering if you ever had a chance to look at this issue of not being able to use an external player.

I too would love to be using your plugin.

Thanks.

I have looked but as yet I've not worked out how to do it.

I see on your screenshots that there is a delete option. I am actually hoping I can prevent movie delete (stop the kids deleting). Is there anyway to achieve this?

Great customisation by the way!

Yes, On the previous screen to my import you can "Right" click or use the "Options" key to allow access to another menu. Within this menu is a options menu which contains the delete disable. I also have this disabled just in case

NEW Beta Version of Movie Info Screen

I've decided to throw my import out there and see what happens. It's still a beta version but should work fine and does on all my extenders/pc clients. However I would recommend making a backup of your install first just to be on the safe side. If your not confident in making a backup then wait and see what other brave people who try it first have to say.

It will install on top of the previous version of Movie Info Screen but its better to start with a clean slate.

Once a few people have tried it and come back with no major issues then I'll upload it to Sage's download section but for now its available from Rapidshare.

I will make a list of all the changes I've made to the import at a later date.

The download link is here.

----------------------
Installation :
----------------------

Shut down the Sage UI.

BACKUP

Extract all files in this package into your SageTV folder (eg. C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV). Make sure to extract while preserving the directory structure.
start Sage UI.

In SageMC, goto My Menu -> Settings, and select "Import STVi" and import the "Advanced_Movie_Info_Screen_V.1.0a_33" file.

Next goto My Menu -> Settings -> SageMC -> Main -> Screen Specific Options -> Video Library -> Custom Programme Info Screen. Find "AMIS" in the list and select it.

----------------------

Thanks goes out to MeinMaui, Gplasky, Brent & those who helped on the forums

Other than that theres not much else to say apart from have fun and I hope it works

Regards

Ben

Do you have any notes (in these forums or elsewhere) as to what's new in this beta?

thanks

Their are a few notes in this thread but basically its now 95% customizable with a few added bonuses thrown in like custom buttons and external player. I can't be sure the custom buttons or external player work as I don't use those but their is code included in the import which will hoepfully allow them to work.

Hi,

Thanks for this, it looks really great

Only thing I've noticed so far is that if you play a music album and then go into your plugin, then the album art is still there behind the cover art.

Does that make sense?

Regards,

Nick.

Yep, that makes sense. Fixed for next release.

Many Thanks

Would it be possible to handle channel up/down buttons to move from either side of the button list (play to whatever is the last option)?

Thanks. It's actually more useful on the TV Info import where "Set Watched" is on the far side, but I'm lazy so anything that saves clicks is a good thing
